Is There Anyway to Convince Mazda to Bring the 2014 6 Wagon to the U.S.

The likelihood of this happening in the US is slim to none. Mazda has a 2% share of auto sales in this country and most people here are into SUV's and the demand is higher SUV's as opposed to the traditional wagon. I have a Mazda 6 wagon and loved it and when it was discontinued along with 5-door I was disappointed to say the least. Write, e mail and call......but as long as the public looks to the SUV the wagon will never come here. I think that Acura is having poor sales with their TSX Wagon too!

I saw that TSX Wagon sales are up about 15%, while the sedan is up 7%.

I've emailed Mazda USA already.

Wagon sales are still slow, unfortunately. The only other choice in the price range is Jetta wagon.

I'd gladly join the campaign, and this wagon needs a 6MT.

I'm in if we get the diesel! I love the 3i, but would like to upgrade to something slightly larger.

and there's some of the problem. If you filter down from the number of people that want a wagon to the people that want a more specific version of a wagon it limits the market even more. And then you end up with the 6MT models sitting on dealer lots for months because nobody around that dealer happens to want one while the couple people that want one are 300 miles away wondering why there aren't any MT Wagons on the lot and the AT model sits on their local lot for months and months.

Looks like Im going to start bombarding Mazda USA with emails .....:D

I'd also think some sort of organized campaign or online petition would work better. Transform it from a very vocal few to a good chunk of potential customers and they should see it differently.

don't get me wrong, I love wagons too it is just too often a losing battle for the dealers.

I just shot an email to Mazda begging for the Mazda 6 Wagon. I'm a 9-year Protege5 owner and am ready to buy a more mature wagon. Love the P5, but I've outgrown it. The Acura TSX Wagon is in my sights, but it's not the best looking wagon when I compare it to offerings by Audi or BMW. But I want reliability and value. TSX Wagon may be my next car if Mazda doesn't bring some competition. And I may jump the gun if the TSX Wagon is discontinued. So write Mazda a letter and tell them you want the Mazda 6 Wagon. I know I do.

wagons are on the comeback. higher gas prices and good looking wagons

venza is a camry wagon, accord crosstour, tsx wagon, all the euro wagons (well they never left)....

I do dig the Venza, but it still has the mass of a small SUV it seems. I want something more trim and sporty. The Crosstour is fugly imho. I am digging the Mazda 6 Wagon. Oh pleease bring it here.

Im not sure why the TSX wagon doesnt sell well, but I assume that it must be the price

The TSX wagon was one of the top contenders on my list, but price was a secondary consideration.
Yeah, being forced to pay for stuff I don't want is a negative, but the big 3 strikes against it were:
1) Moonroof - an inevitable leak and nothing up there I want to see.
2) HID Headlights - stark unnatural white light is harder to see with and blinds oncoming traffic.
3) Auto Climate Control - takes control away from the user and is a likely failure point.

CAFE kills the Wagon

I would love to see a manual diesel wagon. But i do not think it will happen due to the CAFE standards that are in place. This article does a great job explaining why it will not happen.

"the V70 was classified as a passenger car, the XC70 joins its siblings as a sports utility vehicle according to the EPA."

This means the V70 has to meet passenger car numbers, while the XC70 "only" has to meet the requirements of SUVs. The XC70 looks better in terms of CAFE even though the V70 and XC70 are almost identical.

Wagons are popular in Canada, too bad our car market is 90% dictated by what goes on in the US, with a few exceptions.

RIP Ford Focus wagon, Mazda 6 wagon, BMW 5 wagon, Volvo V50, Volvo V70, Audi A4 Avant, Subaru Legacy Wagon...

1) More an issue with aftermarket moonroofs, no?
2) Properly engineered HID systems do not blind oncoming traffic.
3) Many auto climate control systems have a manual override mode. I kinda miss my auto climate control, but the manual climate control is not the pink elephant I made it out to be.

I prefer VW's Climatic system, Honda has something similar. You set the temperature but manually set the vent mode and fan speed.

Just sent them an email....

And here's what I got back...

"Thank you for contacting Mazda regarding the Mazda6 Hatchback.

At the present time there are no plans to offer a hatchback version of the Mazda6 in the US market. However, I can advise specifications and features for any future products will be available closer to launch of each model year, including any Mazda that might incorporate the options you are interested in. We do appreciate your suggestion and will document your request and forward your email to our product planning team.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate you taking the time to contact us. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to give us a call at the number below."

The rest of you need to start sending Mazda emails requesting the 6 Wagon/Hatch be brought to our shore.

I sort of agree with 1) and 3). But NOT with 2). I drive at night with no street lights on back farm roads about 30 miles per day and see many, many deer. The HID light helps me see deer MUCH better on the side of the road ready to cross than reg or halogen lights. As for oncoming traffic, I find the HID less blinding, as they are more directed (as opposed to spread out). MY hi beams on CX-9 BTW, are NOT hid, only the low beams
