Is the Mintblue Grille Supposed to look like this?

I got a "Mintblue" grille a few weeks ago. I finally had the time to test fit it and it looks pretty bad. Is it supposed to fit like this? I didn't tighten the screws all the way down becuase it was bending, so this is as far as I wanted to go.

Is this normal for these parts?

is it a DG or Mintblue from Jpn?

I have a DG and the fit was "OK"
but not that bad

it looks like it you drill out the screws a little you can slide it to the driver side a bit to center it.

can you send it back?

Corksport had told a friend that the holes to mount are sometimes too small.

Just use a drill or dremel to widen them.

Same thing happened with the skylab grilles.

Hopefully it's an easy fix.

When are we comparing mint blue to skylab grills? (poke)

not sure what you are implying with your smartass comment?

they are both fiberglass upper grille replacements.

mintblue is obviously the higher quality name, but their parts are made for the jdm cars?

skylab was a replica of the autoexe grille, which is exactly the same as mintblue, but without mesh?

I purchased it from a very reputable dealer here on the boards. So I don't doubt its a "real" Mintblue. It just seems like it bad fit. It also came a litte cracked and chipped. I thought about drilling out the holes but that won't close the gaps on the sides. I think I'm going to try to return it.

Calm down. It was only a joke. It just sounded odd to have both mint blue and skylab together in the same category after what had happened.

Rishie should trade you for another.

i had to mess with my MB grille...it actually had to be cut in the middle and a section taken out to make it look right!

Robot Romeo, If you did buy it from Rishie, then I'm sure you will be taken care of.

Ya, he's been real nice so far so. I just PMed him so hopefully we can figure something out.

Whoa. (shocked) I dunno if i want to mess with all that.

Thanks for all the input. :)

With a bit of bondo and some time, it could end up being really stellar.

You will have to paint it to match, so why not fix it up before the paint..

replace the mesh or paint it, and the one i got was slightly able to flex. I drilled new holes also

I guess I could do all that. I was really hoping that I could just buy it, paint it, and slap it on. I have no bondo skills or paint skills so I have to get this done by someone. I've already spent a couple hundred for this, by the time I "fix" it, its going to be a whole lot more $.

I think from the pictures, although it is off a bit, that it is pushing towards one side a good bit.

Try widening the holes (horizontally only) or drilling new, and seeing what you come up with. All of the aftermarket grilles have some gap.

It's true it is kinda pathetic that the companies get away with this, but it is true that the quality is higher in the end. Despite all of the ghetto rigging i've had to do to get my catz, jic, mintblue, razo, whatever(s), to fit, I am most happy with them in the end.

As for the cracks and dings, it should all be covered by primer with no problem.

Worth giving it a try. If you live close to rishie, maybe he can help you get it to work instead.

Shouldn't cost much if anything to fit it.

Just my 2c worth, it looks like it might be the wrong grill for that front bumper. It seems to not match up with the lines of the bumper at all, and it seems to be too deep for that bumper.

it looks to me that even if you get the thing aligned right that it would still look like poo. the curve of the grill on the sides looks to be more rounded off compared to the more angled contour of the bumper. ive got a dg carbon grill and the fit is great. no gaps, took 5 minues to still and havent touched it since. im a fan of there stuff. hope you get it all straigtened out man

I had one, and also fitted like crap...got me a DG, which fits a little better.
