Is it worth it to put rims on 3s w/ 17" stock

(uhm) I was going to try to throw on some 18 x 7 rims w/ new tires on my blck 3s this weekend, but in order to afford new rims I have to sell my stock ones. Anyway, I know it will look much nicer (I already had some 19's test fit, and they looked tight but the ride was too uncomfortable). The problem is I have read about some people having problems with the car pulling to one side, and having something called tourque steer. Does this mean that the car will work better with the stock rims than with bigger rims and tires?? Has anyone else had this problem w/ aftermarket tires. I was going to try to get some Volks w/ Falken tires.

Thanks (uhm)

Yea I ordered mines so I dont know whats gonna happen, but it is kinda scary, I am thinking just ot wait... I dont know

Torque steer has been synonymous with Mazda for a long time, it's not a bad thing, it's just something you have to keep in mind when gunning it at a from a red light (the car will tend to steer to the right at launch).

Advan 18x8 (5x114.3)...They work fine for me

3rdtimes.... SAAAAHHHHWWWWWEEEEEEETTTTT!!!!!! (headbang)

Thanks. I went for something creative and original. I rarely have seen gold rims on anything besides the WRX STi or rare nismo or signal drift car. I thought I would change it up and throw on some real rims. Four totally different wheel locks are already in place to make sure these Advan's don't go walking back off to japan. Oh and the rubbers are also not DOT and def. illegal...Yokohoama(?) Grand Prix F1's in the rear and Goodyear Falaco F1's in the front. I will get some sidewall shot later on to show you what I am refering to. I am also trying to work on picking up a sponsor, so any vendor or person that has information on who I can contact concerning new aftermarket product, please e-mail me @ orangelabel04@hotmail.com.

What offset are those? The front wheels must be sticking out a lot. Why don't you show a picture of the car with the steering wheel straight?

I did have a bit of a problem with the car pulling to the right, but I think it must have been the actual wheels because I had them switched around and crossed, and now they don't pull at all.

Yep kinda like NFS-U all over again...I never thought a car would really do that...till I got the 6. Still using stock tires and rims for now...I'm going for the mazda3s 17's shortly...so as for the rims being nice...I beleve they are but if you wish to run 18's I'd roll cause the stock 17's even on the 6 rub when pushed too hard in a turn...

if you want 18X8's and they rub.... do what I do trim up the wheel well and do a custom wheel well,.. mwhahahahaaa... ahahaa aahhhhhaaa..
(upyours) I'd doubt the stock 17's would rub even in tight cornering
Also a bit of advice, when upgrading wheels. Always go +1size or get some outrageous gorgeous stock size with fatter tires (ricer)

find a mazda meet near you and see if someone can roll your fenders so the shops don't charge you out the ass for it

Not the wheel fender, I'm talking about the plastic crap inside the wheelwell (mudguards). Anyways I work at Discount Tire, so I can roll the fenders for free (pow)

I just ordered my 18" wheels and 225/40/18 for my 3s sedan.
i have not heard of anyone having problems with 18" wheels, and i had not heard anyone with torque steering problems but i had them with my stock so i assumed it would juts be a bit accentuated with the 18", not a big deal, just be careful when gunning it.
Now if you dropped it maybe there would be some rubbing but im still thiking about getting H&Rs

I have some 18x7.5's coming to me and I have the sportline, so I will let you know if I have any rubbing

excellent.
what wheels did you get?
and what tires are you putting on?

I got these wheels from perfectlyround.com

As far as tires, not completely sure yet. Either Kumho Ecsta or FAlkien Ziex
