How bad is it to remove the downpipe..? (or was it the downpipe?) anyway, the exhaust and piping.. Is it bad at all?

From what i've heard, (which i dont know too much about b/c im still noob..) the faster the air gets out, the better.. SRT-4's do it, and im pretty sure that they do it for no reason.. right?

Plus i've heard that it sounds nicer too.. :)

I'm still really new to the whole turbo thing, my last car was an auto P5.. So any help or info on this subject would help a lot.. thanks in advanced!!

Peace,
RJ

I would think you would loose alot down in the lower RPMs but Im new to Forced induction and am going off of my limited NA experience. Pluse it would be so loud you would need earplugs to drive!

some guy on here just ran an open downpipe and supposedly it melted his wireing harnes and the wires, so you should alot of research befor you jump on that ban wagon

i dont think it would be a good idea to completely remove the downpipe. and ms3mica is correct about somebody melting some wiring harnesses.

it is NOT ok, eventhough it might be benefitial (feels like it giving you more hp) the sounds cant compare, its going to be louder, but just be warned your wires WILL be fried and your warrenty for any electrical work will be gooooooone out the door. Samething what MS3ICA said, some guys did it here and burnt his wires and voided his warrenty.

No backpressure issues on a turbocharged vehicle, so the less restriction after the turbo the better. But as others have stated, other consequences probably will occur, since you're venting +1000F exhaust into the engine compartment.

again with my friend and his experiences....his MS6 has turbo back 3" custom. he cut the exhaust at the turbo and ran it straight back with a mini cat and his mufflers. not a problem yet and he's got over 5000 on the exhaust. plus if your worried buy some heat wrap. wrap a small portion of the exhaust on its way down and dampen your worries.
