Is it just me or.....

Ok well I see everyone's 1/4 miles times and for some reason I am not impressed what so ever. I have my reasons and here is why.

I used to own a 99 Protege ES fitted with the 1.6L. Here my list of mods (stock 108 Hp)

-PRM intake
-Custom 2 inch cat back
- No tacho

That's all plus some yellow paint inside the car. I didn't have a tach at the time ( which would make a huge difference if I even knew when to shift) and I had stock 14's on there. and yes my car was std.

I went to Cayuga Raceway in Ontario. The temp was 27 degreese celsius. I ran about 15 or so runs most of them sat at 17.0 worst was 17.7. that was my first run ever on a drag strip so I had no idea what was going on.

Best time was 16.8 seconds. Now I seen some 16.7 and 16.6 times on here. No I am not laughing at your times cause I own the same car but I am wondering why my time is so close out of a 32 less HP car with no tach. I know my mp3 is faster then my old car, as I tried my old car the other day..

Why does it feel faster but it really isn't.....

weird.... anyone have any comments on this...

Thx

Jc

P.S btw my nick used to be Jc'S MP3 on this but I lost my password....

First off your car isn't 108 horsepower after the intake and catback. Second, i don't know the exact weights of both cars but i am guessing that the mp3 is heavier due to extra body trim, spoiler, exhaust, our heavy rims, and little extras such as our sound system. So our power to weight ratios might be close therefore giving you a similar quarter mile time ;)

I have the same power to weight ratio with my 79 rx 7 and mp3. my rx 7 is a lot quicker.
i dont know exact times but i can feel the difference.
remember cars dont fully break-in untill 20,000 miles or so.

i think i main problem is the wheels they are heavy. im going to get a set of light wieght 16s to race with personally.
