iPod Module kit for 2010 5?

I was at the dealer yesterday and asked what their price was for something to hook up an iPod to my 2010 5... They said I needed 2 things, the integration kit as well as some type of harness. One was 140 and one was 120...

I found this on mazdaparts.org , would just this work? I don't have factory navigation or Sirius.

If so, what's different between this and what the dealer said I needed?

Your dealer is unfortunately right. For some unknown reason, Mazda does both the Ipod & Sat Radio as two parts - the "box" & the wiring kit. Because the Ipod hooks into steering wheel control & quick access, it need the box rather than just a line in kit. It's frustrating but we're stuck.

With any after market, make sure it retains any functions you're looking for.

I wouldn't recommend the Ipod adapter, you'll be disappointed with its integration. We had one on our '07 and I was unhappy with the lackluster interface. On our '10 we just use the input jack and control it directly... works much nicer, believe me.

I actually got a https://www.amazon.com/dp/ (commissions earned) and it works pretty well... the headphone jack on my iPod Touch only comes out of one side (and Apple wants to replace it for $250... a $250 refurb 1G iPod Touch? No thank you) so I had to figure out a way to get sound out of the dock connector, and this lets me charge as well... I'm happy with it. A slight high pitched hum as it's charging, but it's not horrible, and I've read https://www.amazon.com/dp/ (commissions earned) will fix it...

That noise reducing cable is the exact one I use. Does help alot. I know you can also have something similar installed behind the jack (disassemble the dash / shifter area).

Anyone know if Mazda improved their cables (ipod interface) since the earlier one? I know that a lot can happen in three years.
