ipod intergration

Guys

This might have been covered before. I'm close to buying a cx9 with the moonrf/bose option. I keep my ipod in the car and would like something that I could leave plugged in, charge the batteries and play through the steering wheel. It seems the factory intergration unit fits the bill. Anybody have one? Would like comments on how it works and the cost

thanks

Assume you are talking about the '09. I looked into the ipod integration for my new vehicle. It seemed like the only downside was that the artist/track information wasn't displayed. So the interface is kind of clumsy to use. Your best bet would be to create playlists versus trying to pick specific songs.

The dealer explained that to me. It's crazy that they could'nt display the info on the head unit. I guess I could live with it. I don't use it that often and plus the bose package comes with a 6 cd changer. That might be all I need. I'm wondering about sound quality and cost. I think the unit alone is something like $200 excuding installation. I plan on getting an 09. Thanks for the info

I was mistaken regarding the limited ability of the ipod interface on an '09. Check out this site:

http://www.mazdaipodadapter.ca/

It shows that on an '09 model the artist, album, song, genres, composers, and playlists are displayed -- at least on the top led display. I'm not sure if this info shows up in the nav screen. It could since the nav is different in '09s. I'm actually interested in this interface now. I wonder how hard this is to install.

I just ordered the ipod integration module and the wiring harness for my '09 w/ nav today. So I'll tell you how it works next week assuming I can figure out how to install it.

I ordered the two parts from: http://mazdagear.com/ for about $195. This dealer (Morries) is only a couple miles from me so I didn't need to add shipping. I had to call them because the parts were not listed on their website.

I think there is documentation somewhere in this forum. Let me see if I can find it. Thanks for stepping up to the plate.

I picked up the ipod integration module and wiring harness today for my '09 GT. All of the ipod controls are available on the nav display. The nav screens look better than I expected -- at least on paper.

The install process looks involved. I'm not excited about taking apart the dash on my new vehicle. Interestingly the ipod module has to tap into the information display connector for power. The install instructions for the ipod module on previous year vehicles is different. It doesn't look like a switchbox is required to use the aux1 audio port after the module is installed.
