Hey all,
First off, I want to say thanks for providing such a vast source of information to me over the past couple months. I have referred here more than once when trying to resolve an issue, and even had to point my dealer to the website to find the TSB for the Bluetooth module replacement when they could not find it in their system. So with that said, here goes:
A couple months ago, I took my CX-5 in to get the BT module swapped out as per the service bulletin. All was well and working up until about a week ago. I'm not sure what happened, but my iPod Touch no longer has functionality via USB. Not only that, but when plugged in, the module itself seems to get a bit...."funky". It keeps resetting, re-connecting to my phone (iPhone 5), and then downloading my contacts all over again. A couple other symptoms are that the same song always starts back up when I turn the car on, (mostly because it won't load past that), and once that song is on, it will either play for a few seconds, and then stop, or everything on the screen blanks out and disappears, but the music keeps playing.
Whereas my iPod used to start playing, and then eventually load and say 1/2020 songs, from which I could navigate where I wanted, it now does nothing. No songs load except for the first alphabetical one, and no artists, playlists, etc. ever show up in the menu (on the rare occasion I can access the menu).
I've tried a couple different fixes, such as disconnecting the negative battery terminal, and pulling the audio fuses, none of which worked. I also did a hard reset on my iPod, deleting all content and settings and basically treating it like it were new again. None of this has worked, and I run into the same issues every time I connect it via USB. Something that is troublesome to me is the fact that when I plug in my old iPod Nano, it is able to load the songs and menus. It is hard for me to tell if it is therefore a problem with the BT module itself, or the iPod. If it were the iPod, I assumed the issue would have ironed itself out when I completely reset it. But if it was the BT module, how is it able to read the iPod Nano?
Has anyone had similar problems, or any advice on how to proceed? I have a dealer appointment scheduled for next week, but they said it is "drop-off only". And if I can't be there with my iPod, or my phone demonstrating the issue to them, I have a general idea of how the appointment is going to turn out. Anyway, thanks in advance for any help! Hopefully I can get this sorted out, because I would rather not have to turn to an aftermarket solution just yet.
