2010Mazda CX-9
So... I bought a 2010 CX-9 today with the one of many broken promises that oh my songs on my iphone will display on the navi, once you set it up! yeah right! So here I am wanting to be able to see and control my playlists on my navi screen. It looks like it is capable with the artist name, genre listing - albeit blank. What do I have to do to get my playlists from my iphone to play via the aux plug in (wireless sounds like crap) on my flippen navi display?

Sorry, but you can't through the aux port. Unless they changed in 2010 to include it, you'll need to buy and install the optional ipod adapter accessory. There's at least one thread out there on this with pictures and a very good description/review. Do a quick search and you should find it pretty easy.

is the ipod adapter even compatible with the new iphone 3gs? most of my old car stuff before i got the iphone 3gs won't even charge now, due to the pin change to usb.

"aux in" is for analog audio signal only.
You can't control anything through it.

Does your 2010 CX9 has the A2DP Bluetooth support?
If yes, your iPhone 3GS (is it?) can pair with it and send music thru.
If not, you will need an iPod interface for 2010.

My ipod 3gs connects through bluetooth and it also does not display the songs, as promised by the dealer. albeit, the dealer we ended up walking out of and going across town to another one to purchase our 2010.

how much does this ipod accessory kit cost?

Yes, the newest iPod integration module comes with a USB dock connector, not the older Firewire types. So it will play and charge your 3G/3GS (and hopefully the 4G due in a couple of months) at the same time. You also will see the Centerpoint function in your sound settings come alive, greatly improving sound quality experienced over either Aux or A2DP.
