so, my iphone 6 pairs with the cx-5 no problem, but....nothing works. You can't receive or make calls. It just freezes. I tried setting the car back to factory settings and I changed the name of my phone to make it different from the previous iphone. The address book downloads and even the quick #'s (which I thought was weird since I reset the factory defaults.) Any ideas? I have tried at least 4 times trying different things. My bluetooth works fine on a steroe I have in my house.
Thanks
Barbara

Many people are having bluetooth problems with the iphone6, in all kinds of vehicles. It seems related to restoring previous settings from itunes. Try resetting network settings and delete any pairings in the car and phone that remain. If that fails, search google for one of the many threads about it or contact Apple.

Bad new for iPhone 6 owners.

Since Mazda used a BT module that has 7 year old technology, 2.0 it is not supported anymore. I got a headset yesterday for driving. Shame on them, just got the SUV.

a 2015 SUV, and i can't use the head unit. Disgusted with Mazda, no more.

I’m not a tech person but the Iphone 6 uses Bluetooth 4.0 and that is the same that Apple has been using since the iphone 4S .

I fixed it! I read a bunch of posts on apple forums and I tried this:
Went to Settings -> General -> Reset All Settings (perform task) and then after reboot Settings -> General -> Reset Network Settings (perform task) and let it reboot. big pain because you have to reset everything after. When i did this, I didn't think it had worked but later when I got in my car it worked and its been working ever since. Good luck.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

Part of being bluetooth certified is graceful downgrading to older standards. It's part of the reason bluetooth is so popular.

I have an iPhone 6 and it works just like my iPhone 5 did.

I can make/receive calls, activate Siri by holding the home button, and stream music (although it has that stupid 2s lag).

I did not try the texting features as it didn't work before and I don't expect it to now.

I had a similar problem today, my radio stopped working and seemed to be frozen. When I switched to the phone screen it looked like it was connected to my phone. The screen had a box in the middle with my phone number displayed. I soon realized I could hear all phone sounds through the speakers, like the new e-mail sound. I pushed the "Transfer to Handset" button and everything returned to normal.

Anyone using iPhone 6 with the USB cable for music, does that work ok?

Still sitting on the fence, my iPhone 4 works ok, but is getting a little tired.

I have Mazda6, bought in April 2014 and having all kinds of problem connecting iPhone5 and iPhone6. I have reported the problem to deal and they have offered version upgrade, as well as replacing SD card. Still many problems; cannot make call, cannot pickup call, music jumps, lost bluetooth connection, no audio, etc.

it has been painful months since I had my hands on this Mazda6. I hope that the problem be resolved soon, and I will have peaceful mind.

Why every forum is filled with iPhone issues? I always have Samsung phones and I never have issues.

I have a Iphone 6. Works great, easy to set up and pairs with the CX-5 2014/15 GT.... without fail.

Really?

I have a Windows 8 phone. Works great, easy to set up and pairs with the CX-5 without fail.

Just a thought. When I visit a forum for help with a specific problem I expect people to give advice, or help narrow down the problem.

To me people like you are not helping but rather the opposite, they are annoying.

Just try to ask yourself and answer the question honestly, what you would expect if you had a problem with your non-iPhone and would like to have people help you?

Would you find it helpful to have answers that say, I have an iPhone and do not experience any of these problem?

I actually think that he was helpful. Letting you know that other phones work just fine, like the guy above about his Samsung phone, let you know that it is an iPhone problem and not just the Car with all phones. Registering and having your first post be calling someone annoying isn't all that helpful.
