hey guys.
just picked up my gray ms3 gt this week and loving it so far.
a little bit of car background.... had an 03 maxima for about 4 years while i was in college (i/e/ypipe/n20/tsw wheels/suspension)... decided i wanted a sportier car when i graduated so i picked up a 2004 350z (i/e/work wheels/jic coilovers).... drove that for about a year then traded up to a 2006 c6 vette (i/e).... best car i've ever owned... but unfortunately, i didn't get to drive it much since my commute got considerably shorter... so i made a decision to lower my payments since paying so much for a car i rarely drove felt like a waste.... so i looked around at all sorts of cars from the new saab 9-3, vw gti, audi a4, etc...
then i found out about this little ms3 from mazda... said what the heck.. went for a test drive and LOVED IT. so i bought it on the spot.... i thought the vette was the best performance "bang for the buck", but this MS3 is right up there with it as far as value goes (i only wish it was RWD or AWD). everyone is very surprised at how quick this little thing is...

anyway... i'm very new to the mazda world and also to turbos... what are some mods that can be done to give this car a little bit more "go"? i'm reading that an intake actually yields pretty good gains for this car... anything else?

thanks in advance for your help.

CAI and Motor Mounts will do wonders for the car...I would avoid a full exhaust for fear of the smoking issue these cars have...keep a cat or two on there. You must miss the power of the hipo v6 from the Nissan and the ridiculous pull of a chevy LS motor...Check out the full line of performance mods Mazdaspeed offers...at least that way you can keep your warranty. Congrats and good luck!

i definitely miss the passing power of that LS2 on the hwy... you haven't lived until you've downshifted into 3rd going 90 mph in a vette to pass cars...
which reminds me, i should really get used to the much shorter gears of the ms3... i almost hit the rev limiter a few times without even realizing it. lol.

thanks for the tip on mazdaspeed stuff.. i'll be sure to check them out... anything in particular i should look for? i've also read some stuff on "cobb" parts... where can i purchase either?

i just noticed your name was vermz06. you a vette-lover as well?

cobb makes very high quality stuff, i have some sti and evo guys who swear by them, their site is cobbtuning.com and you can buy on there, but they're still developing products for the speed3.

hands down the best place to by parts is from protegegarage.com, who sponsors this forum and has a wide variety of parts. looking around his site should also give you a good idea of what people by most, they carry cobb, mazdaspeed and everything else. oh, and congrats on the ride!
