I am looking for intrest in badges for the MazdaSpeed protege with the production number on them. These will be aluminum with rised lettering. I am looking at about $20 a piece for these. I will get a drawing up later today and hopefully have a picture of the first one by monday. If there is enough intrest I will take the time to do them. The rest is up to you.

I would be interested. but like others have said I would rather have like #xxxx/xxxx for the specific production year.

I can do that with the production numbers. But these will be metal. I have seen the carbon fiber sticker types and they look awesome. But I figured a dash plaque type item found in the Integra R's and Harley trucks might be a little better and more official looking

I haven't seen what you are talking about? Pics?

I am definately interested in metal ones.
If you actually make them at around $20 a piece, i'd probably get 2 ( interior and engine bay )

Give me another hour and Ill have a drawing up. Im working on getting them up on my milling machine and ready to go. Im thinking i will have the first finished one by monday and I can take some pictures.

Here is the drawing the white portions will be raised and the black portion will be sunk into the metal. Any critisism needs to be done now so I can change the drawing if need be before it goes into the machine. Size will most likely be 2 inches by 4 inches. They may go as big as 3 X 5

yeah it is the machine drawing will be nice and the metal will have a nice finish. If you see something that needs changed or fixed or doesnt look right let me know so it can be fixed. I have looked at it so long its just a jumble of lines to me.

Design looks good to me, is the finish going to be brushed or polished?
brushed would match the interior better IMO. Regarding the size - 2x4 seems perfect, 3x5 would be too big, for interior anyway.
How thick is the plate going to be? Rounded or sharp corners?
Keep up the good work man
Thank you.

I was gonna do square corners. The plate is going to be aluminum 6061 thin guage an 1/8 inch think give or take. I am debating on doing a brushed back with the letters and border polished. Ill have to see how much work is involved before I make a final decision. Im trying to keep the price 20.00 bucks

gotcha man... brushed back with polished lettering and border sounds even better then what i had in mind before (lol2) .
thanks again for your work...:D

I am not sure if I like the way "Protege" looks, but maybe I am picky. I think since the image is huge it makes it looks worse than it would really be.

looks great, i'd be in for one or two of these, subscribing for pictures of a finished product...

also, i knew at one point you could call mazda to get the production number, does anyone have the phone number handy? i'll do a search later but it would be nice if someone had it already handy and could post it (for other members as well)

thanks,

James

James there is a PDF somewhere on the forum that has the numbers listed by VIN. The protege looks completly wrong. I hand drew it from memory and then went out to look at it and relized it looked like crap. I am redoing it now. Keep it coming cause I want this to be a great part not just something that looks like it was slapped together.

hmm looks good let us know what the final design looks like....i may buy these enstead of the others...depending on the look, price and size
