Internship

Ok, there are a LOT of technical people on this board.

I was suppose to have an internship in Europe this summer working with broadband satellite communications. I took enry's advice to never work in Europe. Now I have no internship and it's almost too late to find one for the summer.

If anyone on here knows something, or has something they can offer, let me know.

Here's my two, or three cents.

If your career is important to you, more than other things, you really shouldn't have passed that opportunity up. Others can give advice on where you should go or not, but it's ultimately your decision. Remember though, internships don't pay much but you get the experience you need on your resume, even if you don't like the location.

So if I were you, just start looking for next summer, it's never too early to get ahead. Good luck!

I started looking in October of last year. I had 3 extremely good offers. I chose the italy intership because it was such an awesome opportunity.

I didn't pass it up. I was trying to put it in a nice way. The person that got me the job quit two days before I was suspose to leave. (I was already packed)

It was too late for the other two offers.

Sorry to hear that.

Don't be down though, you still can work on certifications and study the things you are "unfamilar" with, stuff that would land you more internships, like being cisco certified.

Actually, now that you've somewhat described what happened to the internship in Italy, I agree with your decision NOT to take the offer. In general it is VERY bad idea to work for someone that DIDN'T hire you, meaning you're not working for the person that interviewed you (this is personal experience, which I stand by 100%). Second, it is very hard to work in a country where you don't speak their language. You are very limited in what you can do OUTSIDE of work.

have you been using your school's career center? usually that's the best place to find internships...

I know Bayer hires summer interns, I do not know if they are done though. If you don't mind Pittsburgh, I can find out. Let me know what area you would be interested in. I would offer a place to live even :D but I think the wife would get a bit pissed about that. If I can help let me know.

If you don't mind new jersey or the chesapeake virginia are I can check with my cousin and see if his company needs any interns or summer assistants. They do networking with voice over internet lines and satellite hook ups.
