Interesting option...wheels..

Well I love to autox, but i'm cheap :) I have a 350z as well and my 08 Mazdaspeed3. I just put a new set of wheels on the 350z so I decided to see if the stock 17" 350z wheels will fit on my ms3. The stock 350z wheels are wider in the rear then in the front and also have 235's in the rear and 225's in the front...or at least thats how I bought it used from the nissan dealership. So I decided to put the 235's in the front and 225's in the rear. I was mainly look to test the offset and make sure I don't need spacers or anything. I didn't drive the car with the 350z wheels on it just test fitted. With the wheel at full lock the front of the tires hits the fender lining, but the 235's are a 50 series...lol. I'm going to be putting 225/40-17 hoosier a6's on the 350z wheels.

Anyways here are some pics...

the wheels look really nice, imo. i'm a big fan of smaller wheels on our car, so if you can get the tires to fit properly in the front, that would be a really sweet setup. 225/40/17 is about 1.5" smaller in diameter, so hopefully, that will fix all your problems...=d

Not sure on the width and the offset..i'll google it in a little bit...

I'm thinking the smaller tire will help in autox...well the tighter courses..The 235/50's weren't hitting the inner fender lining as bad as I thought it would. And as for the looks they will only be on my car 1 or 2 days out of the month...and they were free :)

Ok I found the specs....they aren't the idel wheel but like I said before they are free to me.

Here are the specs...

Front
Size: 17x7.5
Offset: +30mm
Weight: 23.26lbs
Tire: 225/50/17
Rear
Size: 17x8.0
Offset: +33mm
Weight: 24.14lbs
Tire: 235/50/17

Oh and I cancled the order for the hoosiers...i'm going with bfg r1's in a 225/45-17...i'm crossing my fingers the front doesn't rub...

holy crap, man...33mm is an awfully low offset...+_+;

i, personally, would be really apprehensive about just ordering the tires and hoping for the best, because it's going to be REALLY tight if it makes it at all...=/

Aren't the front and rear diameters going to differ with this setup? Wouldn't that potentially cause problems with traction control?

its for autox...all that crap is off...

The 235/50's seemed to fit, just at full lock it was just touching the fender lining...

Well we will see...if it doesnt work out then I just have to get some different wheels :)

oh, it was just touching? if that's the case, then i would guess that you're going to be ok with the new tires...=d

lol my buddy has a 350z as well and we were bored one night so we decided to see if they would fit. sure enough they do!! they stick out a touch but they really arent bad.

What do you think's going to happen when the suspension is jounced during a tight corner when you're hard on the brakes??

Well it looks like there should be enough room. We shall see...and like I said, these wheels are free to me. If they don't work then i'll just buy some different wheels that will work :) Hopefully i'll get them on friday...more then likely on monday. I'll mount and balance them sometime at work and then i'll go test (heat cycle) them out :)

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I have wheels for a VW GTi that are 7.5 inch wide 18's and I was curious if the offset and/or the bolt patter will work with a Speed3. It would be sweet to have wheels to put some all season tires onto before the OEM tires are worn out.

Hopefully that works out for autox; are your fenders going to be safe when you load up the suspension enough?(eek2)

Well I drove it pretty hard in figure 8's in a parking lot and there was no rubbing at all. I was braking hard and turning from 40mph with no rubbing.
