Hey received a quote about a Hi-BOOST Front mount Intercooler set up for the Mazdaspeed Protege. $900 Comes complete with hoses, piping, core, etc. Was just wondering if anyone had any experience with the HIBOOST setup and could give some feedback either good or bad. Thanks alot guys!

PM juan (Hiboost) on the forum. He'll get you lined up. I got mine that way. Haven't installed yet it just came so I'm curious to find more info on install also. The more info the betta ya know.

Tried PMing Juan and he hasn't replied to me for 2 days now. I told him originally I was an interested buyer ready to move. Did he get dead or something?

marashka thats some good nug..haze..oh yeah..hi-boost makes good stuff..buy it.
took a pic of it 3 days ago...i think its already gone....was just too beautiful had to save the image at least.....(stoned)

install took about 6 hours with 2 people that know what they are doing, to do everything right, and with most of the right tools. some of the hoses are a b**** and a half to put on , but nothing impossible. Actually very interesting work to do.

Hmmm, I bet he's just busy. They are hard to reach but once you get them they are very helpfull. I played pm/email/phone tag with them for a while before I got my order in. Try the email on the website. I'm guessing he's just buried in requests right now

Anything specifc that might be good to have on hand that I wouldn't normally have in a fairly well stocked garage? What gave you troubles besides some of the silicone?

What kind of tools would be needed? I was thinking of doing one of two things. I work at a car dealership and could always talk to a couple of our techs and see if they could help me one night. Or could just work at a buddy of mines house, don't know if he'll have all the tools but he's got a ton of em.

Anything in particular needed for install?

I so know how you feel. I was frustrated with that also. But like I said, once I got in touch and got my order in it came quickly and they were nice to deal with.

I taunt you with mine below

Bah You bastard!!!! Now I really want it.. That's it.. I'm coming the middle of the night.. and I'm bringing Lawn Gnomes.. .That's right... Lawn Gnomes...

I want this kit. But what I've been noticing is people saying the mild steel pipes are a bad idea. I kind of have an image of pipes with rust on the inside feeding air to my enigne, anyone care to help me pull my head outta my ass on this one?

wear gloves when you try to fit the hoses on. sometimes there is almost no room to operate and you can lose some skin .....ask Dr.Sound....he know all about it. i had my gloves on - he didnt. make sure you account for all the parts b4 you start taking s*** apart. it may seem like common sence, but we were one connector short at first...found it waaaay later on, so we used wrong ones in few spots......took us additional hour to take it back apart and do it the right way. you'll need set of screwdrivers, rachets, sockets (10mm the most), and a good sharp knife. Drill is a must with good drill bit (variable size is the best). and at least a flash light....:D
that's about all i can think of right now......if you have troubles PM me

Sounds easy enough. I have all of the above and some overkill. Thanks for the insight!

Theres NOTHING at all wrong with mild steel. Unless you plan on using the piping 15 years down the road, there is no point going with SS. Its to expensive for what you get.

Unless you live in a place where steel oxidizes - like say 4/5 of the USA.

SS is realy nice for those who live in snow belt states, or coastal areas - I think all that are left are AZ and NM -

LMAO -

Just get the pipes thermal coated and they will be fine- (think Jet-Hot ect)
