Insurance rate increase...

So, I just got back from my insurance office and I've got trouble sitting. they really got me good this time, thats for sure

My rates just went from $720 every six months to $849!! And this is with a perfect driving record AND preferred customer status. Their reason is that they originally misquoted the rate, so they had to give it to me for the first few months, up until my renewal date. Something about quoting me for a class 15 vehicle and now its rated @ a class 21?? Been with the same company since I started driving and now they treat me like this. I could understand if I got a ticket or in an accident or something, but damn, I'm one of the most courteous drivers out there. oh well....
[end/rant]

I've got Nationwide in NC.... anyone else (anywhere) notice a change in policy rates? Just trying to see if nationwide is doing a "nationwide" increase or if I'm just the lucky one...

My guess is they did the same thing to you as they did with unsuspecting SRT-4 drivers...

when the SRT-4 came out, it was awesome on insurance because it was considered a standard neon. Then after the vehicle was out for 6-12mos... they caught on and offered the correct premiums..

Im sure this is the same situation here with the MS3... although thats my guess...

I highly recommend checking out how Progressive and Geico would quote you before you worry about things. Both are pretty darn good and I've never had issues with either.

ditto....

as much as I hate geico's sales dept., I have to admit they have awesome rates. they were ++ better than any other quote I was given.

I was originally quoted back in March $650/6mo by Geico, and they considered it a regular Mazda 3. In July, when I finally purchased the car, they wanted $850/6mo. I guess they figured it out. So, I ended up with Progressive at $725/6mo. This is Florida, I'm 24 and my last ticket was in 2002.

~$485/6 mo here in Texas w/ State Farm. 25 yrs old, no accidents, ticket in 2001. Havn't noticed any increase as of yet.

Unless you live in the same area as the thread starter, are the same age, have the same marital status, and same driving record, premiums will vary wildly.

I worked for a very large insurance company for several years. The company was broken into tiers. What tier you qualified for set your base rate. Infractions, credit score, marital status, years licensed, and even education level determined rate.

The companies we had within the parent company were:

General (preferred..cheap rates)
Indemnity (so-so, decent rates)
Casualty (bottom tier, borderline insurable)

It's all in how you rate and what company within the company you fall.
It's a racket. For real.

I think I need to get out of bed sales and into insurance sales... wow

esp for the guy paying $2000/ 6 months!!!

if it matters- 23, 7 yrs licensed, single, male, very good credit, last ticket was 2001

My advice...turn 25 fast and get married :)

You can also try picking up a beater for 100.00 then put it on the policy with liability or storage coverage to get the multi car discount (sometimes comes out cheaper to insure two cars than just the one)

The symbol you quoted is the what the insurance company uses to rate each vehicle based on a number of factors (mileage driven avg./accidents for that model/theft rate/cost of repairs/perfomance etc.). They may have either quoted you on the regular 3 on accident or they didnt have a rating for the MS3 yet and used that.

Shop around, you have no loyalty to stay with any company unless they are giving you benefits for staying that you could not get at another company.

I've got Allied a division of Nationwide. I'm under my own policy, 24yrs. old, Zero tickets, 3 accidents since turning 16. I pay $530/6 months.

st farm ftw!!! I pay 68 bucks a month full coverage for my wrx...I would get another quote from some other company man...that sucks!

Everyone talks about insurance companies rates, but I would never go with a no name insurance. As of now I have AAA and no one could touch there rate when I bought my grand am gt. Whats nice about AAA is that all road side assistance is free, and I can take my car to any bodyshop if it ever gets hit. Where as other insurance companies want to send out someone to inspect your car before you can take it in. Bottom line is that with some insurance companies, you may pay a higher payment, but if anything ever happens to your car, there are no questions, just results

heh. i wish my insurance was that low per six months. I live in NJ, fukin rip off state when it comes to insurance. Im 23 years old, and currently insured with Geico.

I pay 1,300 hundred every six months. This is with a perfect driving record for 5 years ! Since i was 18 years old. Well anyways, i just had a ticket 2 weeks ago for speeding on a 25 mile an hour zone. By next month, I know these bastards is gonna rip me off even more.

I CANT WAIT !... fukin state

In Arizona, 22, not married, and probably the worst driving record here, as far as tickets and accidents go. I pay 1158 every 6 months for full full full coverage with State Farm. Mind you I had a friend take my car without my permission and total it less then 6 months ago, that my insurance company picked up the tab on so I do agree with the stick with reputable company policy.

Maryland, 21, last ticket was 4yrs ago, 1 accident 1 1/2 ago i pay 1,404 every 6 months. i dont think thats too bad. this is with nationwide.

NJ insurance sucks. it gets ALOT better when you turn 25 and even better when you get married.

I got married when I was 25 and was very shocked when my insurance renewal was half of what I paid the year before.
