instrument cluster upgrade

Don't quote me on this, but i'm pretty sure that the wiring harness in your dx will have the proper wiring for a tach. All you should have to do is plug in the new cluster and it should work. I'm pretty sure this is what one of my friends did.

What about sensor for the RPM.
Would that come in built in the DX?

I have an LX, but I read it somewhere that you have to put a sensor for the DX. Dunno, try it, and see if it works with the factory settings. Then maybe add the RPM sensors? is that what it is called

Try plugging in the new cluster to see if everything works! Most cars are wired from the factory for almost everthing, the options decide what gets used and what doesn't.If you car is just a different trim level ,I would plug it in and see if it works first,You might be happily surprised to find everthing functional if not then do some research.Plugging it in can't do any harm.

i check my dx cluster but i dont find an extra wiring or plug for the tach i found conected only three plugs to the cluster or the tach use the same plug of the speedo if somebody knows or check pleasa let me know because i dont want to lost the money.

i have a 99 es and mine has three wiring harnesses that plug into my cluster and mine has a tach so it should work.

i have personally hooked up a LX+ gauge cluster up in my DX.

IT WORKS. the tach read perfect and all. the only problem is that the odometer stores the mileage within the cluster, so you'll have to figure out a way to correct the odo.

i was gonna get a new cluster, until i found this problem... and the yard was asking WAY too much.

when i changed my cluster the mazda dealership they gave me a sticker to put in the door jam to put the odometer reading on it.
