Installing CPE 3" DP & 3" CPE Single Catback

I am gearing up to install Cp-e's 3" catless downpipe, as well as their 3" single catback exhaust with no muffler or resonators, I am wondering if anyone with this or a similar set-up has issues with the turbo seals or with boost spike, if so how did you remedy it?

Also, is there a gasket between the turbo and the downpipe or is it metal to metal? Any tips on removing the O2 sensor?

Thoughts, comments?

I just ordered the ATP 3 inch downpipe and asked them a simular question regarding gasket on the turbo. They said that it was a "multi-layer metal" gasket and it can be reused.

Because you do not have a CAT, you will need a pro tune for your car to run properly. You will most likely suffer from boost creep and overboost, along with other issues.

Also take many pictures and document the process. I have not seen a well documented process for the MS6

Regarding the removal of the O2 sensor, you can get a special socket tool at just about any auto parts store.

answer regarding turbo seals. everyone says they are shot if you car smokes at idle, but they couldn't be more wrong. if they were shot then your car would smoke all the time, just not at idle. if i were you i would get an oil catch can and fill up with exactly 5.5qts of 5w40 next oil change.

would the balance shaft delete and baffle pan be a good alternative to the catch can and 5.5qts? i thought you can keep a whole extra qt after these mods.

not really because bsd and baffle pan does not do anything about oil vapors still being vented through pcv to intake manifold. and a whole extra qt of oil really doesn't do anything either for smoking, its more or less the level of oil that kind of has an effect on oil. you don't want to be to far over max on the dip stick.

Thanks for the responses, I appreciate it.

I have put thought to getting a catch can, and I am definately going to switch to 5W40.

As far as boost creep and spiking I am going to set target boost at 15 psi in the standback and datalog the results to ensure that any over boosting or creep I see in still in the "safe" range. If I have to I will continue to lower the target boost as needed until I get a proper dyno tune.

I am aware that this setup is likely to louder than I want as this was not my preferred setup, but I bought these parts new/used for a little over half of what they retail for, so I thought I would give it a try and see if I can deal with it. I may end up fitting a muffler somewhere down the line.

If I don't get in a hurry I will document the process.

+1 on catch can. and if u do get one bova posted a really helpful link for install
