injen intake and warranty?

I think my first preformance mod will be an injen intake. Where is the cheapest place to order one? And can someone please clear up what voids the warranty? I keep hearing different things. Does it only void the warranty if that part causes a malfunction? or does just changing it void the warranty?

The cheapest place to get the Injen is www.protege5online.com. I think i bought mine for around $230 USD. And yes ony if the mod cause the malfuction. But if the engine blows the could blame it on the intake even though it didn't cause it. But most dealers would over look a intake. Matter fact the service guy at my dealer told me to go out and get one for my car. oh well. hope that helps.

in order for the warranty to be voided, the dealer must PROVE that the modification in question CAUSED the problem

Well the dealer at the moment can say to bad the intake caused the engine to blow and refuse to fix the car. You can take them to court but that takes forever. But they still can say take your car and shove it. Get me.

thanks

thanks for the info... I think I'll go for the intake as soon as i get the cash all collected. Then i'll be on to bigger and better things. I'm guessing that not many people have had problems with the waranty issue? I'm paying extra for some sort of extended warranty, so it would kinda suck if i voided it.

thanks

eh?..if something goes wrong, just put the stock intake back on before going to the dealership..its not that hard.... ?
I guess that's kind of scandalous, but that's what I'd do.

Damn, if you hadn't gone for the extended warranty, I would have told you to just save up for a turbo.

Well i was 16 when i bought the car.. I wasnt legally able to buy a car on my own.. so its under my parents name and I'm paying for it.. While i was outside looking at my new cars "sweetness" they were inside signing the paperwork. After i got home they informed me that im now paying for the extended warranty... kinda sucks but i think they did it just to keep me from modifying it too much..

the p5's speed isnt too horrible.. i beat a civic on my way home from the dealer... I dont expect to roll with any american muscle.. but its decent for its "league". It moves, but it wouldnt hurt to have it faster...

well, you can still mod it, just nothing serious....the usual intake/catback/shifter/timing/suspension route that so many go.

I was getting ready to ask this same question. I stopped down to see the service manager @ my dealership today and they said "unofificially" that things like the above mentioned would be overlooked but not to bring that conversation up if anything ever happened to the car.
