Impressions after the first week

Friday marked owning our 08 GT AWD for a week. We went from an 01 Millenia that we bought new to this, which now has about 9200 miles on it. It had just under 9K when we bought it.

It's certainly an extremely comfy ride, especially for road trips. We drove it on a 60-mile interstate trip with three adults and two kids. The third row definitely came in handy as my wife and daughter sat in the back and enjoyed a movie with my son in the middle seat.

The stereo is great; ours has the version of Bose with RSES. We have tried out both the navigation and the Bluetooth. Both seem to work just fine. I mainly use the nav to count down my distance home. I don't have Bluetooth paired, but she does. It seems to work fine with her iPhone.

The first trips fuel economy was just over 17. That's about right for the type of driving that we did, mostly city.

Overall we're very impressed. The features you get for the price are amazing, we thought. The ride is great, and it handles like a Mazda. What more can I say?

Just got my 09 Sport on Friday, so hasn't been a week. Already have some gripes (mostly minor, of course), but some that would seem to clash with mts3's views. (boom07)
I'll try to hold off though, until I get more time in the saddle, (drive2) before I fire off a few potshots. (gun)

sorry to hear that daddyD....i too had some minor frustrations (mostly with the whole cosmetic chrome accent things - just frustrated that i'll have to find the time to go argue with the dealer on door handles when the center console is even more messed up and not included in the TSB)... but in the end...i think it's still quite an enjoyable vehicle...when not sucking gas like a pig ;)

(ughdance)i just let go my mps6 for the tourning cx9 a month ago. i'm impressed with the seating, where you can ride high.and at the same time lowered to give that comfy feel.better tires will greatly approve. oem will kill you!! i know

Well, we all knew we were not buying the mpg leader of the crossover class, eh? So far, i'm averaging about 19 mpg. Can't really complain, but geez, gas prices have been going up ever since I bought the thing!
Still gonna chime in with more details when I have time.
(but did I say yet that the radio pretty much sucks?) lol

I've had my '09 cx-9 GT for less than a week but most of my initial concerns have been put to rest. I probably spent too much time reading opinions online vs. doing test drives.

I was worried about the comfort of the ride on the 20" wheels. I laugh now because my previous vehicle was an old Jeep cherokee. My head and neck were constantly in motion -- and not because of the music beat. The cx-9 feels like the pinnacle of luxury in comparison.

I read how bad the nav, bluetooth, and voice were in the cx-9. But the nav screen in the '09 seems fine. The bluetooth works perfectly with my blackberry. And the voice recognition hasn't made a mistake yet. I could program the nav without the manual with no problems. My only complaint is that the map data is old. Hopefully an update is coming this year.

I'm 6'2" and I haven't hit my head on anything yet. Maybe that's because my old jeep was a smaller SUV. I could see hitting my head on the tailgate at some point because it doesn't raise as high as my previous vehicle.

I'm glad the autolocking feature wasn't enabled. That's just too much change in my world. I'm still used to opening up and starting a vehicle with a key.

The climate control functions seem okay. I think the design is so simplistic it almost adds complexity. But that's okay. So far I've just been leaving the climate control on auto most of the time.

I didn't buy the vehicle because of the gas mileage. I like the form and the function. It was a good fit for my lifestyle at this point in my life. My next vehicle will be a hybrid because it will most likely be mandated by law. Until then I'm enjoying the cx9.
