Hello everyone
We are thinking of buying a Mazda3 here in Canada. However, we will be moving to the US in a few months. I know that in order to import the car to the US, I need a letter from Mazda headquarters stating that the car meets the U.S. Federal motor vehicle safety standards (FMVSS).
This is where we run in to trouble. In order to get a letter from Mazda confirrming that the car meets the standards, I need to give them the Vehicle Identification Number. We dont have this of course since we have not even bought the car yet. I called Mazda in the US and they told me that it will "probably meet the standards". Well what does that mean? We cant seem to get a firm answer from anyone and we really need to know before we buy the car.
So I was wondering whether any of you have any information regarding Canadian market Mazda 3s and the US Federal motor vehicle safety standards.
Hoping to be a proud Mazda3 owner soon...
Thanks in advance
Snark.
