just want to know if anyone that has the gt28rs installed had a problem with performance or overheating cause of not having the smic/radiator fan installed. have to wait till next check to be ablr to buy a fan and want to make sure is safe to drive till then. thx in advance kelvin

you had to remove it to get the gt28 to fit? I had no idea you had to do it. I drove my car for a week with the fan unplugged on accident and i didnt have a problem with overheating.

You had to get rid of one of your fans when you installed your GT28?

If so,why?

cause the housing is bigger, and intake issues. the stock fan wont fit.

. you CAN have heating issues since the fan on the SMIC is ur main fan, not the other one. what i did was rewire it so the fan on the rad is the now rad fan and i have a 9" fan on the front on the condensor.

i tought of doing that just need to wait till next payday. but y did u put it in the front and not where it suppose to be? i think it will fit, i might be wrong!

well if you can manage it right might take some time you can fit both stock fans in. i did it with my t28rs

What?

I had ZERO problems keeping both stock fans using the stock MSP exhaust manifold.Intake issue is solved using a reducer coupler to hook to an injen intake.

Now the coolent line's on the other hand, was a b**** and I couldn't bend them as everyone was saying is possible so,I had to cut and rejoin some of them.

Also, relocating the wastegate further up on the housing and making a bracket like Wicked did for the wastegate to work.

Also,73mango to save you a little bit of a headache if your using the stock MSP oil line. You will have to put this oil restrictor in line from ATP: http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=ATP-OIL-021&Category_Code=GTBB
And have a new line made unless, you can find a female style restrictor. The stock MSP line supply's to much oil to the turbo allowing oil past the oil seal's,under WOT.That and the coolent lines are the only problem's that I'm having/Had with the GT28RS....

Maybe, your Inlet housing isn't clocked/positioned right?

Don't get me wrong, spal fan's are very nice piece's but,you do not NEED them to install the RS....

its clocked right! i didnt have to bend any of the lines. i didnt know bout the oil line problem, o well i guess i'll have to work on that one. i do have a reducer coupling for the intake. i'll give it a try tomorrow and see if it will fit, haven't really tried it yet! thx for the info on the oil retrictor!!

i had to with the fmic kit i had (included an intake). i apologize for not specifying.

oddly enough i didnt have to bend the coolant lines at all they went right on for me no problems.

funny how that works isnt it :)

odd on the oil line thing, mine never leaked oil past the seals at all. thats a new one to me.

Sweet, I'm Glad most everyone besides myself didn't have to cut/bend thier coolent line's.It's not that big of a deal having to cut them for me though, because I kinda wanted to have some new lines made anyway's.:)

The oil line issue is one that me, and a few other people on the forum are having just run a search for Oil Line Restrictor and you'll see what I'm talking about....

interesting. ive heard of that when goin turbo from non factory cars cause usually ur pulling it from a head or somewhere thats not meant for a turbo. youd think since the rs has the same size chra that it wouldnt be an issue.

plus not everyone has this issue. veddy interesting.

Maybe it's just bad luck on my part but,I've been noticing a slight smell of burning oil.So I pulled off my intake and sure enough there was oil residue in the turbo's inlet, also in my hotpipe.....hmmm

no u could be right. it might be an issue. mine was fine. ill ask the guy i sold it to to check. i mean turbos only need like 20-25 psi anyhow so u can definately be right. maybe i got lucky haha.

thats exactly why i bought the rs, oil in the inlet and hot pipe! i hope this s*** aint gonna happen again, cause if it does then is an internal problem not an oil nor turbo problem.

well after all i couldn't use my factory fan. so i rewired the radiator fan and its good to go for now but definately buying another fan soon!! thx everyone for help. car running very strong @ 8psi on gt28rs!
