Well i work at ups...and i unload packages all the time. And illt ell u honestly the word "FRAGILE" means absolutely nothing. I am guilty of tossing a box, and sometimes throwing it. But most of the time its the way its shipped. In a truck there is thousands of boxes. Some up to 120lbs. They flop around and bang against each other. And then since it was flat. it made it alot worse. Because they dont lay anythign against the wall. its either gonna be on the floor flat, or on top of something. Either way oits in danger. Ive seen so much shtit break..or broken. And the worst thing done to the hood, was it being packaged in a box. It sounds stupid but its true. You can almost send anythign threw the mail without it being in a box. If it was packaged without a full box, and with the ends covered well, and with the rest of the hood wrapped in bubble wrap and or plastic. it owuld havebeen cared with alot better. If a loader - unloader sees what it is that actually fragile they will take a bit of extra care.. nobody breaks stuff on purpose...but it happens thers is too many boxes to baby each box. A box wiht "Fragile" on it is just another box.
But from what i heard. if your package is damaged..severly like yours is. They are responsible for it. it will take alot of hell raising. but it can be replaced. Because we are always being preached to about damaged packages. Thats how they loose money so its the most important, that and lost packages, and late packages. Im sure fed-ex has the same principles b/c they are competitive.
