Anyone know if and/or when these should be changed out? Are they a part of the maintenance schedule or do you just wait until they just die? I was thinking of changing out the cables since I just did the spark plugs, then I realized its just two cables and two coil packs. They're pretty pricey and so are the cables; for just two!

You can get em for 17 bucks a pop at Autozone. I changed mine out when I started throwing a CEL.

Well that was weird. I just checked O'reilly Auto online and the Coils are $13.49 each, and the two wire set is $22.99. That's not too bad. For some reason they quoted me $100 for the coils and wires last week.

I did not rplace the wires, only because they didnt have them in stock right then. And if I remember correctly, yes they had the boot on them.

Auto zone one i believe come with boots but i run them in mine and it runs fine with them i just need some new wires next

wow!

where do i get these low priced coils and cables

I paid a fortune for mine last year...I cant remember exactly how much but it was ALOT!

anyone with a link??

thanks

I checked oreillyauto.com and partsamerica.com (advance auto parts). I know at the dealership they are pretty expensive. I was surprised too. I guess I was looking at the wrong items, or brand. SOme were pretty pricey, but others weren't.

what did you end up buying and what did it end up costing you in total for coils and cables?

do you have a paypal account?

I haven't bought anything yet, but I know its going to cost me $51.97 before tax for the two coils and a set of two wires, according to the prices I have above. Here are the links. Hope they work.

use autozone.com

I picked up my coils and they only stocked 1. had to wait another day to get the other one. idiots

To answer the OP question:
Normally no - but with the failures we are seeing in the 100K mile club - i would swap both at 90K. They do fail 'gracefully' (still driveable) but it is easy and pretty cheap - good candidate for preventative maintenance IMHO.
