If We Don't Get a 2nd Generation, Will You Jump Ship?

One of my other cars is a 92 festiva and i always thought it would have been so cool to be the original owner of a 20 year old car.
LOL- when i had my jeep wrangler with 35inch mud tires a few friends and I bought a festiva for a $100 and decided to use it as an obstacle to crawl over when we went mudding at this guys farm/mud pit. Needles to say after being run over a couple of times, and after cutting the roof off, the thing started up and then my friend at the time decided to jump it and break his nose on the steering wheel.
The thing absolutely refused to die, after we destroyed it my friend poured sand down the intake, that finally killed the motor. Sad but true story.
Please dont hate me. I have a soft spot for festivas, especially non rusty good condition ones. they are cool cars that can be picked up and moved by four guys who arent that fit to begin with.
And as for the masda 2, I love it but once i pay it off i will probably sell it and go for something more powerful like the new mustang gt with the 5.0 or i would blow my money on a pre 2005 mustang svt cobra.

I almost got an E30 M3 instead of my wrx in '02, and now I'm regretting it as those have almost doubled in price in the last 10 years. And those supra turbos, those things are ridiculously priced since F&F came out.

Ugh, I know that feeling. I almost bought a MINT 190E Cosworth for $2500 a few years ago. There's one on eBay that's been bid to $4500 with a day and a half to go, and it's not as nice or as new as the one I was looking at. Now that E30 M3s are skyrocketing, the 190 Cossie, which was its period rival, is on the way up as well. At least I've got my 325IS, which is rough but makes up for it by having had all the right options ticked when new (5spd, LSD, sport seats and wheel, trip computer, etc.). In another ten years I think it'll be worth quite a bit restored.

This is pretty much proof to me that there's no New 2 coming to America. They barely advertise for this car (no print, TV) and the best thing they could do to freshen up the car is add a new color and USB cable? Even HONDA added to extra sound insulation and some thicker window panels to the the FIT, which has never needed any incentive to sell. Mazda's screwing us. Which is I'm out!

From the new description it sounds like they added some sound insulation to the 2 too -- maybe you should reconsider.

EconoBox, it seems like you're trying to justify your decision to dump the 2 (?)

What exactly does that mean "jump the ship"? Selling the car because its resale value is low seems to be akin dumping stocks when they're down (well, almost).

The way I see it: if you like the car -- keep it. If you dislike it, or if it causes too much trouble -- bite the bullet and sell it. Simple.

Low resale value shouldn't really be a factor in this equation. It should be considered _before_ buying, not _after_. FWIW, low resale value could only serve as an incentive not to sell (because you need to buy something else, and low resale means that you'll spend more instead of just driving the car you already have...)

i really hope they dont discontinue this car in the US. i looooooove my mazda 2. although i do love that i dont see alot of them around like i do mazda 3's everywhere i freaking turn.
