I saw this happen at rockfalls raceway last year, some guy with a supercharged blazer did that.

I almost died laughing.

Its understandable how it could happen. Most probably he was very nervous and push down on the shifter. I'm guessing first or second time racing.

Golfs can be fast. Some have the 1.8t and are therefore only slighly slower due to the extra weight.

Also, having drivin a golf I can definetly see how it could happen given the way you put it into reverse.
