I need your professional opinion.

Hi, I am new to the forums and I have a question.

This might be a biased opinion from some people here but I wanna ask anyway. I am in the market for a new car. I have been looking at these and the VW Jetta 1.8T and the MSP. I wanna know what u guys think. What car should i get? I really like the styling of the MSP, and i also really like the rarity of these cars. I think they are about the same performance wise. These may be a little faster. Right now I have a 1995 Mitsu Eclipse GS-T. How do the MSP's compare to the Eclipse from a performance stand point? About the same i would think.

I have also been looking at the WRX's but I think those are gonna be a little bit to expensive for me.

jetta has NOTHING on MSP when it comes to handling.....even the GLI.
MSP might not be the quickest on the block, but it will sure outhandle pretty much everything in the same price range.

notice, i drive an evo now, but even so i still think that nothing below 30k has same handling and driver feel like MSP.

I agree with this 100% MSP is a drivers car

Off the line your GS-T has more potential power wise. Stock on stock the msp is a better car all around compared than the 1.8t. Just test drive both and see which you like better.

I was in this same boat about a month ago. I was considering the WRX and the 1.8T and a few other things. But when it came down to it the MSP was an unbelievable deal. Believe EVERYTHING you hear about this cars phenominal handling.

Although it has its downfalls. You will not be the fastest in town with this car, not to say it isn't possible, but making good RELIABLE power requires a lot of research and a lot of thought. Many people have already blown their MSPs, just search on hear and you'll find posts about the "zoom-zoom boom."

It really is a great car, just dont jump in it and crank up the boost and go crazy with aftermarket parts. Take your time, search, ask questions and do some careful planning. You'll enjoy the MSP, its a drivers car.

Both the MSP and my eclipse has the Garret T25. I would much rather have the 14b that was on the 1st gen eclipses. Its more like a 16g with a smaller compressor wheel. I sure hope that in the almost 10 years they improved the T25 a little. My car is a TURD when it gets up into the higher RPM's. Its pretty quick once the turbo spools to about 5500 RPMS.

your T25 and MSP's T25 are different.
i believe the turbo that came on eclipses was NOT ball bearing. T25 on MSP, which is also known as GT25R, is dual ball bearing turbo and spools fast as hell.

with full 2.5 inch exhaust and a hi-flow cat my spool was in full at 2400 rpm.

Word sucka!
Been banging the snot out of my stock GT25R at 12-15PSI for 103,000 miles. I just had MPINICK work his magic on it with his his port polish, ceramic coating and GT28 guts.
I am in no way recommending you follow in my up-boosted footprints :)
The MSP is a great little car for a little money. I have a whole slew of other parts going in as well. My little MSP has brought me great joy over the years and I don't ever plan on getting rid of it. I will buy other cars but there is no point is parting with a soon to be paid for MSP.
