so here's the story:
i went to the track in late may, and ran a 14.6. i was pretty pleased, as i thought i'd be in the 15's all night. i cleaned out my car (easily 40+ lbs of junk), took out my spare tire, and put my stock potenza's on the front wheels and went back to the track last weekend, and pulled a 14.3@95 with a 2.1 60' time, but that's just not fast enough for me.

my current mods are: custom fmic, mbc@~10 (for racing only), 2.6" corksport dp-back catless exhaust, and injen shortram.

what else can i do to my car to possibly pull a 13.9 for the least amount of $$$? would slicks break axels? i thought about an exhaust cutout, would that help?

forgive me if you've seen a million threads like this before. please point me to a similar thread if you dont feel like answering my question. :)

Engine Management, something around the lines of Mircotech is my fav. choice but a lot of this stuff depends how deep the pocket goes for moeny. Bigger injectors, fuel rail upgrade, fuel pump (not sure if u really need a bigger one). I would reccomend a EBC instead of the MBC...

Don't think a cut-out would matter cause you don't have any cats...correct me anyone. Oh and try to get the GHL S pipe if it can mate up with the CS exhaust. The GHL helps spool the trubo up faster and relieves back pressure then the stock S/J combo.

You also may need to do Forged Internals, but heck you can try doing all that stuff after being tuned on the dyno and if at the tracdk it blows go Forged. I would boost up to 12psi at the track if I could with your set-up plus the EMS, fuel and S pipe upgrade.

well if your goal is high 13s then the cheap route would be piggy back fuel control, which you should be running anyways at anything above 9-10psi. As you can see there are many choices, our afc, unichip, mpi tuner...just depends on your goals and bank account. Cut-out wont do you too much good since you have a full exhaust...slicks will help but the msp are known for weak lsds and that much grip would sure put a lot of load on it...if you are mechanically inclined you may also want to look into mild porting of the exhaust manifold, o2 housing, and intake manifold...bigger injectors aren't really necessary unless you plan on going above 11psi...which is playing russian roulet with your block.

i dont know what kind of wire or plugs you have but they help some what i noticed a difference i got 8.5mm racing wires and ngk iridium plugs also the short ram intake isnt helping you much .. cause all your doing is pulling hot air from your engine compartment. the full injen which i have fits perfectly in my speed. and it pulls from outside of the engine compartment ergo colder air.

unichip, you say? i'll keep my eye out. thanks!

my plugs are 1 step colder than stock, my wires are stock. i'm using my injen as a short-ram because i have a fmic, and dont really need another 90 degree bend from a cai extension that would be doing little-to-nothing anyway, since i'm running a fmic.

Mpi tuner and 12 psi netted me a 13.9 @103.88 a with a 2.3 60 ft and a blown motor , Do not due back to back runs let the car cool off between runs. Blown motor vid Quick vid 2nd 3 are me agaist turboed s2000 and 4th she blew

motor mounts. good idear. there's 15-30 minutes between runs at the track, and i've been using a bag of ice on my hotside pipe to cool it down. works wonders.

What rpm are you shifting? Get some motor mounts and head back to the track, you should be able to hit 13's with 10-12psi untuned.

i'm shifting at the rev limiter (500rpm's past whatever the redline is, i forget). should i shift at a different time?

i ran simlar times when i went to the track but i trapped 100mph at 14.3seconds. I'm not great at launching and plus my old fuzions were bald as hell so i probably should have been high 13s. I would recommend dsm afc for tuning and some nice tires for the strip. Good luck bro

so i should shift that low, so the next gear ends up being at like 3k? i'll pass on that one.

if you are shifting aggressively at 6k rpm and you cant keep it above 3k then you out to practice shifting quicker...

Keep shifting at around 6k to 6500rpms.

And It seems he can drive very well for hitting a 14.3 trapping 95. Thats really really good. I only got my best time of 14.4 @99 with bad all season tires on my old setup with a 2.5 60''.

To hit a 13.9. Maybe get some Drag radials or some azenis for the track. Maybe go with the dsm afc, 3'' dp, or just plain practice practice practice.

why thank you! i, of course, attribute that to the 7k rpm shifts, and those shifts alone. couldnt have done it without that extra 500 rpms!

but seriously, at ~5000, my car gets more power/stops hesitating, so i'll take all of that power that i can get, right up to 7000.
