I know, it's the honeymoon period, but...I LOVE IT!

^^^

You do seem very stand offish. You asked why buy the auto, people replied with their reasons and you jump all over it trying to prove their reasons wrong. And yet you say people buy different cars for different reasons. You are the one being defensive. Manual vs auto e-fights are usually feulled by ignorant kids who think driving stick is super cool. Judging by your car and your attitude i have to assume it is the case here as well.

Yes excellent points Nodnerb, (facts versus) ricer-like arguments are amusing if nothing else.

Performance? Come on now. The sport manual would out perform that auto in every measurable aspect. And lol @ convenience in real world urban/suburban driving conditions. What convenience are you gaining really. For more money and less mpg's you can just select D? I've bought and sold many manual cars and never suffered a penalty that made me think, darn if only i bought the auto.
In other countries manual's dominate auto's it.

Performance, yes in real world driving conditions by most drivers.

In other countries (non 3rd world), autos have higher growth rate.

I've owned too many manuals to count, and still prefer Porsches with manuals. But it's no surprise to me why auto is predominate on a compact SUV like CX-5.

Well that is the matter at hand. Your suggesting that i'm "jumping all over it" while thats not the case. Its a counter point. I asked, why buy auto? people replied. I replied to said response's. But i didn't judge anybody based on their response such as you've done with me. An ignorant kid who thinks driving stick is cool.

Ricer like arguments? Gaa, that over used term. Ricer. I never thought i would be a victim of it. Clearly you are unaware of what you read in my post. Its a fact that the manual is cheaper and gets better gas mileage. Thats what i stated. Yet you claim I'm using ricer-like arguments.

Well, there is no counter point to a persons reasons to buy a car. Someone states the reasons they went with auto, and you try to prove them wrong. Thats about as intelligent as trying to prove someone wrong who likes the colour red instead of blue.

Your posting in this thread was nil until you decided to jump on me for asking a question then cast your short sided judgment at me. You, the one on this thread that didn't respond to a question but was quick insult. Thats about intelligent having no input to a question but rather insulting someone for asking it. It very clear to me now that e-fights by ignorant kids is something your familar with.

Tell me. What conclusion did you draw "judging by your car", hmm? I fail to see the ignorant kid in any of those vehicles. I've done every bit of work on those vehicles, have had them for years and they run and look great. All by my hand and i'm proud of what i've done with them. And your gonna judge me based on the work i've done on my vehicles? You, indeed are the ignorant one.

Wtf, manual vs auto e-nonsense. After lines like, "Why buy the automatic?" "Ya ya ya boost junky" and then asking people about rice and kiddies comments, lol.

Reminder- see post #1 for actual topic.

I am sorry I bumped up thread, but I was just asking OP for follow up report based on his ownership experience so far.

Looks more like "small-minded" people posting (unrelated to topic) e-nonsense on auto vs manuals more typical of kiddie and ricer forums.

Now back to topic per OP, thanks.

And another useless post from you. You joined 8 months ago and have nearly 1,500 post? Ya, your posting useful and helpful things i'm sure.

And whats with adding e- to everything? And where are all these auto vs manual topics? I've been on this forum and others for years and have yet to ever even see this.

I figure to ask you since you've spent every minute of the last 8 months of your life posting nonsense on this forum. And you are clearly more aware of its going on than i. Yet you've some how developed no etiquette.

Lol taking etiquette lessons from likes of you, no thanks, even with your many years and mastery of Internet (like you are only one with years of forum experience, like that's important). Give it a break.

Topic is CX-5, now that honeymoon is over.

In snow, I dont see how a manual or auto would be different. This is coming from someone who's always had a manual tranny vehicle.

I would personally put an auto in manual mode for snow as I would want to have precise control over when the tranny shifts which is critical in low traction conditions. But if there was no snow, definitely manual for me, so it's clear where I stand on this argument :)

I'm about at about 2500 miles and this car is aging well. I'll be doing my own oil engine and tranny change at about 3000 just to keep the ocd mechanic in me happy, but am so far very optimistic about the quality of this vehicle. I think it would have helped mazda a lot to find a way to make the tires quieter over joints in the road, but otherwise the mazda has a very premium lite feel to it, and everyone who has driven my car or been in the front or back seats has been very comfortable and impressed. The car has definitely loosened up some from nyc roads and has developed a more relaxed, comfortable feel too it. When I got it at 20 miles, it was VERY tight through the suspension, not a bad thing for a sports car, but for a daily driver, I am liking how it is breaking in.

I experienced the same over road and bridge joints. Very harsh. So i checked the tire pressure the following morning to find the tires at 40 psi. Oddly the tpms never lit up on the dash. Lowering the tire pressure to the right amounts helped. But i think the harshness is more attributed to the generic tires the sport model comes with. I'm betting better tires will make a big difference.

Cram anything into the back yet? I stuffed a near 7ft tall christmas tree in there, lol. There's a lot of space with those seats down. The more i do with the 5 the more i love it.

Saturday I brought home a 10' cedar 4x4 post - with the hatch closed. Given the geometry, I could not have carried a second one in the same load while keeping the hatch closed.
