I heard streaming audio in my 08-CX9!

I had an interesting experience with audio on my 08-CX9 today while using my IPhone. I had downloaded the Dragon dictation app which lets you speak text into the Iphone and then SMS text, email or post to FB or other. I had thought it might be a great way to respond text messages while driving.

I was in my CX-9 and the car was on but I had not made any phone calls so there was no Bluetooth connection to the car. When I loaded the app, I could hear a connection being established with my car via the audio tone and the screen on the NAV systems. It connected and dropped a few times and then re-connected. I spoke my message and the system performed its conversion of speak to text. However, with the windows open and rather noisy drive, the dictation was not perfect. So, I fired up the keyboard icon to correct any mistakes and magically, I could hear the Iphone sound of the clicking keyboard coming through my car speakers! I thought pushing audio from a Bluetooth device to the car was not available in the earlier CX-9s????

With that app loaded (and an open BT link) I moved it to the background (thanks OS 4) and tried to stream audio from the Ipod function, but no luck. Im going to mess around with it a bit more but I am wondering if anyone else has seen the streaming audio work.

My note really had nothing to do with texting and driving. My post was about hearing streaming bluetooth audio over my cars speakers.

Sorry for your loss.

I stream music from my iPhone via Pandora app. There are also several other apps that will allow you to stream music from the web (CD's or radio streaming or podcasts). The music from Pandora goes right through your AUX input instead of Bluetooth.

I found that when I upgraded my 3GS to OS4 it started to do strange things, especially with the BT. Random linking, sometimes not at all. After about a week it seemed to stabilize. I have yet to stream music from the iPhone to my CX9 via BT.....just don't see any need.

If you haven't try Pandora......the audio quality is pretty damn good.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I normally use the AUX port but I was wondering if anyone else had experienced the randon BT connection like I mentioned. Must be something with OS 4.0

I have Pandora, just don't use it. I have enough music on my IPhone and old IPod in my center console to keep me happy.
Thanks

Well there is an audio link that is established when using the phone system. I suppose this capability could be used to stream audio, but I am not sure why it is not.
