Well the car is blowing blue smoke on cold start ups. I'm going to remove the turbo and just throw a header on the car until I get another replacement turbo. I'm guessing the MSP computer will have to be changed with a non turbo protege right (I have an 2001 protege 2.0 winter beater) will I need to do anything with the o2 sensor at the top beside install it in the top of the header. I know the oil feed and drain lines will have to be removed. Any thing else need to be changed. Thanks

Thanks again
Mike

i do not believe that you do not need to change the ecu, it just will not be quite as good of a tune as an n/a ecu.

do you know the turbo is blown and the issues are not with your engine internals (rings, seals etc.)?

I don't know for sure, it has to come off because there's a broken bolt in the manifold. I'll check the piping when I take the assemble off. I'll also check it for cracks at the same time.

More than likely, I'd say the culprit is valve stem seals.

I have blue smoke at cold startups, took the piping off my turbo didn't really find any oil residue around it also check for shaft play and how well the turbo spun and all checked out. So I'm currently in the process of removing my head to do the valve stem seals.

U can prob leave it. My car always smokes on start up seems not to cause any other problems though as long as you keep an eye on the oil.

Even if it was the turbo, you can buy a new gt25r center chunk (without housings) from ATPTurbo.com for $730. By the time you buy everything you need to run the car N/A, you'd probably spend that anyway.

Well after putting my valve seals in still smokes at start up. Fund a decent amount of oil in my piping and on my turbo so it's getting sent out next week to get rebuilt!

Hmm weird, the shop said they rebuild garret turbos ill have to verify before I send now
