i got pulled over ...

I was driving down 66W yesterday ... which was a nice day ... and I see a cop up ahead ... and u know when there's a cop on the highway ... there is a cushion of no cars around him.

All the cars around me are slowing down and keeping their distance ... and my subconscious kicked in ... i'm tired of this ... i usually drive at the speed i'm driving now (70mph) and there's no reason for me to slow down, it's not like i'm being reckless. If I drive at this speed all the time, then I should be comfortable enough to drive past this cop.

So I creep up on the cop, who is going like 55 .... he's on my right lane .... and very calmly i pass him going 70, just ignoring him.

My exit is coming up so I signal and get in my right lane ... at this time there is a SUV in front of me, signalling to come into my lane ... and I slowed down to let him come ......
that's when I look in my rear view mirror and see that the cop is right on my ass and since i was ignoring him, I didn't notice that he started to tag me and I pretty much cut him off.

That's when the lights came on and he pulled me over.

So I pull over and he comes up to my window and he says 'What are u doing??' ... 'we don't have to go the speed limit , why did u pass me going 70 when I'm going 55?'

and I was like I'm sorry ... I was just driving ....

he's like I don't like to tick people off no more than I want to be ticked off ... I was gonna write u a ticket but since u slowed down to let that SUV change lanes, I'll let u go.

I was like thanks and I'm sorry.

Moral of the story .... don't do what I did.

I have a good one for you. On Sunday morning, after work, I was coming up the hill going toward Martin High School. I was talking to Sapril in the passenger seat, when I looked up and saw this motorcycle cop sitting there. I let off the gass, and slowly passed him. He picked up his gun and put it down really quick. My radar detector did not go off. It did not occur to me how quick until about an hour later when I was thinking clearer. Anyway, I slow down some more going down the other side of the hill, and I see the cop in my rear-view hesitate, and then come get me! I have not had a speeding ticket since I was 18, and the funny part is yet to come. He asks for my licence and insurance. I found my license, but my insurance card was the wrong one. I found out later that it was in the car the whole time! I got ticketed for:

Wrong address on my license
Expired registration
No proof of insurance
Going 45 in a 30 (strange that it was exactly 15 over..hmm)

So the cop is all cordial the whole time, and even tells me how to get everything dismissed. He said that he got me becuase I was slowing down over the crest of the hill. I told him that he saw brake lights because I did not want to speed down the hill. He did not care. :wtf: I even told him that Sapril was sick, and she even got out and faked throwing up! I wish she would not have done that, but she gets an "E" for effort! About an hour later it all became clear. I looked at the ticket, and I had thought that he got me with laser since my detector did not go off. He marked radar. Hmmm.... I don't think this guy even scanned me at all. Remember how quick I told you. It was about 1 second. I was almost passing him as he did it too. I remember how the gun looked to. It WAS a radar gun. They are not THAT fast. I think that he was just trying to meet his quota so he could go and eat lunch. I felt like such an idiot after the fact. Do you guys think that I should fight this one, or go and take defensive driving?

fight it. sounds like he doesnt have anything, whether or not there is a way to prove he didnt actually clock you i dont know....

haha

i got pulled over for givin a cop the finger. didnt really mean to but he let me go, i just denied it and told him i was waving to a friend haha

"I have a detector and it didn't go off" might not work in some courts and might even make these worst, but it might work.

What brand of detector do you have (I seem to remember it's either a Valentine or Passport) both companies offer some assistance.

Note to all: when in court, require that the police department offer into evidence the latest calibration report on the serial numbered device in question. More than 60 days old or even less and any lawyer (or lay person) can easily challenge that the radar/laser unit is out of spec. Again check with the radar detector people on the law in Texas. This may be the best way to go since it was riding on a motorcycle. (hint, hint)

yeah they have a quota, that is why you got stopped. btw, has anyone ever seen a cop write down "35.xxxxxxxxxx MPH"? nope. its ok man, everyone gets tickets. wait, i havent :D

HAHaha, all very good stories... Here's one to add to the list:

Going to California from Phoenix (for any of you who don't know the drive, it's seriously 500 miles of straight flat desert) I was going around 90 when this 18 wheeler passes me.

Not thinking anyhting of it I speed up a bit, and wouldn't you guess it I pass a cop who's waiting at the side of the road with his little gun. I watch my rearview for about a mile after I passed him, and low and behold a car is approaching me FAST!

Of course it's him, and he pulls me over. After a lame ass lecture he tells me I should get power stearing installed, and then tells me he's going to write me a ticket for the minimum of criminal speeding. He could have been nice and given me 90 in a 75, and I could have gone to rtaffic school. But isntead he gives me 91 in a 75, and it's counted as criminal, costs 100$ more, and is not eligable for traffic school.

I then remembered what my license plate said at the time "BLAMEME" and then I also rememberd I had my "I hate cops" T-shirt on.:(

So since then, I've actually purchased more anti-cops shirts, but have changed my license plate which now reads "mzdaspd".

Moral of the story: If a cop get's behind you, GUN IT!!! hehe

Yeah, I had never had a ticket either (Since 1998 in New Mexico). So the fact that this guy scammed me pisses me off! (argh) (argh)
