I got no boost....ok i do now!!!!!!

hello all i just got done with my turbo install, its just a standard garret t25 with internal waste gate. I rev my motor and can hear turbo spooling up and
when i let off blow of valve works. but i hook up boost guage to vacuum
port where cruise control valve is plugged in and no boost shows on gauge.
I noticed a little power increase but not what i expected out of my setup.
I have an rrfmu but no voltage clamp(it coming from flying miata not here yet)
anyways im all out of ideas, obviously there is air being moved. can anybody
help me? any ideas are greatly appreciated. thanks all!!!!

Does you boost gauge read vacuum? You cannot boost in neutral, their has to be a

load on the engine to create boost.

thanks man yeah i was trying to boost in nuetral. btw does a imporperly
adjusted blow off valve make u loose power? im really new to the turbo scene.
as u can tell!!! thanks again i was all worried that my turbo was poop!

If you have an adjustable BOV you have to tune it so wont have compressor surge or it

does not open at all. You should be able to hear and feel the air coming out of the tube,

just put your hand over it and rev the engine up and you should feel/hear the air escape.

If it doesnt either thighten/loosen the adjustment screw.

ok guys thx for the great advise i wont play with it till i get the voltage clamp.
It was supposed to be hear thursday but flying miata got my address wrong.
so maybe monday. is ther any regular boosted protege's out ther i got an lx
laser blue so its sorta looks like a sleeper.

What are you running for fuel management? The car must be really confused if you're just running a turbo.

i just have an fmu for now, but volateg clamp is on the way. could that be
a reason y its not running at its full potential? i mean it good power but seems a little low. it pull real good in 2nd and 3rd gear.

actually my car was running pig rich without the clamp and just the BEGI unit. finally it cauight on...ironically enough, i got my clamp in, and i must have a bad clamp cause its only putting out .07v at FULL boost.

wideband? plz explain y. like i said im new to this. not trying to be a smart
ass but what does the wideband o2 sensor do better than stock and how is it gona benefit me? thanks!!

Usually you have the have load to hit full boost but you can boost in neutral. I can hit 5 psi no problem.

Yeah, I can hit boost in neutral, but I really have to rev the piss out of it.

wideband will give you accurate a/f readings... and trust me... it's worth spending the 350$ on it.

i was running off my stock o2 sensor... it told me i was running rich... but i was actually just border line... once i put my wideband in... i noticed i was running about 14.3:1 ... that's not so good for a boosted car. i put the wideband in... and now i'm tuned properly. hitting 11:1 at times... (if it's really cold outside i'll hit 10:1 in higher gears.) i've tuned the fuel so i'm between 11.5 - 12.5.

if you run too lean (14.7 and up) you run the great possibility of causeing detomation or ping... and thats definately not a good thing.

hope that clears things up.
