Came out on Saturday morning to find my new quarter-panel mod!

It didn't happen while I was driving, but I never really walk to that rear-right area of the car when I'm alone, so it could have happened at any parking lot I guess. Somebody's an asshole though.

Never had to deal with this before, so I don't know how to go about it, with the insurance and bodyshops and stuff. Any do's and don'ts are very appreciated. Until then, "enjoy" the pictures.

I have had this happen to me.... kinda sucks, that's a real big dent. You have 2 options...

1. Get some quotes from body shops and if it's feasable and logical, pay it out of pocket.
2. Claim it under your own insurance because it should be covered under your comprehensive. Problem with this route is.... your rates will probably go up.

Good Luck with it, it's a shi**y situation.

dude i have the same crash on my p5, but on the drivers side. and my taillight is broken. been like that for awhile now, bought it that way off a frend and the price was marked down wayyyyy below. just havent had the money to fix it, well good luck buddy and sorry to hear about this

Ouch, thats Visious.

Yeah the other guy already gave the goods.

If the cost is less then the deductsble (Or slightly above) dig it out of Pocket to keep from f-ing your insurance rates.

I had the same thing happen to me, but it was a huge dent on my trunk, it looked horible. I was planning to pay for the repairs but got caught up in a 8 car pile up where 2 cars wreaked in front of me I stopped before hitting them, and the guy behind me stopped before hitting me, BUT 4 cars behind him got smashed and ended up pushing his car into my rear end.

The damage from the incident was a few scratches to the botom bumpre and one suport was bent about an inch (I pulled it straight with no effort) and the autobody shop fixed the scrastches AND my dent. The bill to the inssurance company was over $700.

I was at no fault in the accident and didnt have to pay the deductable, and my rates wernt effected at all.

I got lucky in a weird way.

I'm betting the damage is going to be at least $1000.00 (probably more). It'll be classified as a "Hit & Run." You'll have to pay your deductible, but you'll be covered under collision.

I would recommend filing an incident report with your local police. It may not help much, but it certainly can't hurt. This way, it makes it an official "Hit & Run" and will help when making a claim with your insurance company. That is, if you choose to do so.

It should be considered a "Non-chargeable" offense, so your rates shouldn't be affected.

Thanks everyone....I figured I would just end up paying out of pocket, but if you think it will be that much, then who knows!?

I'll check with my insurance and see where they want me to get an estimate.

I've got a $500 deductable, but I'm guessing it will be be more than that.
Either way, this sucks...I don't have $500! :p

That will be more that 500.

I had safelite **** up putting in a new windsheild and the bill to them was $210 and but I bet half of that was just the mixing of the paint.

On a saturn I used to have I had a piece of ice fall on my care and that was $1000 to replace the roof.

Had a sebring convertable and the front quarter panel got smashed in and that was $1200 IIRC.

Depending on your insurance they may or may not raise your rates. If you have a decent company then a little accident is not going to do anything. Usually if stuff like that happens often you are then deemed a risk and thus get charged more of the insurance pie.
