So here it is guys. I am a manager at UPS in NJ and i work the midinight shift so i am coming home from work tired as hell at 4am. and I am just cruising in the 5 and i look to my left onto a ramp thats coming onto RT 3 and there is an M roadster FLIPPED OVER!!!!!! so i downshift and put my hazards on and drive up the wrong way on the one way ramp. I get there and there is a guy in the car bleeding and his arm is through the sunroof and under the window support beem which means the wieght of the car is on this mans elbow. A person already at the scene had called 911 so i calm the man down and talk to him and call his mother to tell her he is ok. The whole time this is surreal I cant even believe this is happening. He had a dog with him a little jack russel terrier and he was so worried about it. It was real cute anyway the cops finally get there and they think it would be a good idea to try and push the car up to get it off his arm:wtf: I cant even believe they think this to be a good idea.... an oval object weighing over a ton crushing a mans arm... As i had dreaded they push it forward and it falls back down on the mans arm. I yell at the cops. "wtf is wrong with you guys the man is screaming in pain, listen to me i have a hydraulic jack in the car i can lift the car while you guys move his arm" keep in mind i said this to them before they crushed the mans arm further. So i saved the mans arm possibly life and i am going to go have a word with the East rutherford police dept about how unprepared and unintelligent those officers were. Its real humbling when you save someone thats in a position like that. On a side note good thing i left the jack in the car after installing the shortshift...

Oh i know i just feel with a position that carries so much power and authority that it should be more stringent upon who they allow to wear a badge. ******* idiots.

Doesn't it feel good? That's why I'm studying to be a doctor... to save lives. It's the best feeling in the world! Good work, God bless you...

I'm glad to see someone had a heart and some brains too. Lifting or pushing the car off his arm without the proper equipment is VERY dangerous. You were even taking a chance using the hydraulic jack, but I'm glad to hear things worked out OK. If I was in the same position, with the same equipment, I would have done exactly the same thing.

Proper extrication requires that the car be stabilized first, putting wood blocks underneath the car to prevent it from moving (it's called cribbing). Then, the car can be moved. But, waiting for the fire department to come with the airbags and tools required to lift a car is often too long of a wait. So, you sometimes have to improvise and work with what you have (exactly what you did).

Trying to move the car without ANY equipment (ie bare hands) was a STUPID move for the cops. What is truly assinine is that most police officers are required to take a 40-hour First Responder class (it's basically a "baby EMT" course) and they SHOULD have known better.

yes it did feel good but i was pretty shakin up about the whole thing in general afterwards driving real slow and just being jaded in general. In reference to the cops i seriously wanted to hit them with bats.

(werd) good call man good call, props for that, give them cops a couple smacks for me, im not on best terms with any trooper at the current moment...

yea i vote higher standards for police not that it become the fall back career for football jock meatheads with a testosterone issue.
