Hyper whites too bright?

I was wondering if you guys have had this problem too... I recently took two road trips, one to Vegas, and one to San Francisco. Both times I drove at night and noticed that everyone was getting out of my way as one would if I had flashed them with my high beams. One woman even turned around and flicked me off because my lights were blinding her. Apparently, everyone thought my high beams were on, but those were just my hyper white bulbs.

I was wondering if our lights are just set at a certain angle that makes them appear brighter than usual? I've had hyper whites on my previous cars and never had this problem.

As for the woman that flicked me off, I did high beam her after that. Kinda childish, but she pissed me off and I wanted her to see that I was using my regular lights before. She thought those were bright, but you should have seen how pissed she got when I actually turned the high beams on! I got in front of her later and she tried to get me back with her own high beams, but my windows are tinted and it didn't bother me one bit! What a b**** she was! lol

I have the Japenese spec. Xtreme white's which are said to be brigther then the US Hyper whites & i've only noticed 1 person give me the high beams.

I kinda live in the country, and ppl flash their brights at me all the frick'n time...and I haven't changed the factory bulbs. It's so annoying but I know they must be confused and ticked when I flash my actual brights back at them.

I haven't had anyone complain about my lights. I think you should re-aim you headlamps. I had to do that on several of my friends cars after they installed different bulbs. All, their cars were lowered though.

I have not had anyone flashing me yet, and I have the originals. Apex is right, you might have to check and see if your lights are not in the correct allingment. You also need to consider that our light housing is highly chrome and having the Hiper's will make the lights brighter than they really are.

Same here, I haven't touched my headlights but when I drive at night out in the country I get flashed relatively often. Could be that some P5s just come from the factory with the headlights aimed a little too high.

It is possible that the P5 lights may be aim high, but I doubt it. As I said before, our headlight housing is highly chrome and this can be a factor. When my 318I Bimmer was on the road and I had halogen lights, I used to get flash since my low beams were also very bright. I used to flash all 4's to the oncoming traffic to let them know I had my lows on, and all of my headlights were aimed correctly.

Don't think so. I've had cars with headlights with lots of chrome in them before and haven't had the same problem. It's much more likely to be the aiming (the chrome isn't really a factor in how much light gets into the oncoming driver's eyes).

Hypers whites too bright?

You maybe correct, it should not matter. The aiming maybe out, it is just so hard to think by changing the bulbs which is not a hard thing to do, that the housing got out of line? Unless the dude pulled the bulbs out in such a way that got the light housing out of line. I think if he wants to be sure, just take it to the dealer and have them re-aim the lights and see what happens. He can do it himself but just to take it in to make sure.

to tell you the truth i don't think it's the aiming or the chrome...it would take quite a nudge to offset the light bulb housing...and the the chrome shouldn't make a difference since every other car on the road has chrome in there...our car is naturally set low and when i'm driving in the middle of nowhere (sometimes) i can clearly see that they are aimed down...anyways getting to my point i think people today are just getting more and more anal about stuff...that's my opinion anyway

The first dealer I went to when I was looking at buying the car mentioned that the headlights were very good on this car (the P5). So if "very good" means "brighter" than maybe we should expect a few more flashes at us.

I know the headlights are better than the 93 civic I had...the those civics are known for their bad lighting.

it happens now and then...and I still have the stock bulbs...but as soon as I pop on the high beams then back to low....well...what else can they do! lol it happens to me on my harley too....but then again...if they don't like my low beams...they DAMN sure arn't going to like my high beams!! lol

I've gotten flashed too even tho my lights are completely stock still....the only thing that comes to mind is that sometimes I'll be driving on the highway with my fogs on(kinda pointless I know)....but the fogs are aimed a lot lower still aren't they? Ok maybe people do just like to complain a lot nowadays.

one of my theories...

like I said, I still have the stock bulbs and am always getting brights flashed at me. I always have the fog lights on, I just think it's sporty look'n. Well I also have the red light in the front grill, and think that sometimes people look at that red light in the front as their coming towards me, which is basically staring at the headlights and fogs, and then the headlights and the fogs make them think I'm running my brights. That's just a theory. Who knows.

lol the red light in the grill looks like you have a heater stuffed in the grill! :D

Maybe the fog lights being on do have something to do with it. I sometimes flash people who are driving with their fog lights on on a clear night. I'm not even sure that there IS a fog light shutoff button at all on some Pontiac models.

Thanks for all the replies. I drive with the fogs on occasionally just cause I think they're nice, but I don't think that's why people were flashing me. i still get flashed when they fogs are off.

yeah some ppl are dumbasses, ppl high beam me, flip me off, yell at me through their window and i have STOCK bulbs! i don't even have the fogs on most of the time. i say get some aircraft landing lights (4x) and when ppl do that get behind them high beam and flip all the lights on
