well i finally found out what sponsership from rishie is. its basically the same thing i've got now, but with more work on my part. just getting parts at cost rather than paying full price.

Wish me luck today, guys. Got court at 1:30 today. 80/20 I lose my license, but you never know.
If I do lose it, I may have to tad along with you, Roy, to some of the meets.

Just as an FYI. Rarely does sponsorship mean FREE. For the price of the products we carry it would be near impossible to get freebies. Those types of sponsorships can be had after many years of competition and national recognition.
Sponsorships for an "intake" can be had more liely than sponsorship for Coilovers. It all comes down to timing, marketting, and one hell of a proposal.
Even when asking for sponsorship from manufacturers they will give you the product at my cost, rarely free.

If thats the case, I've been sponsored all along from atleast a few vendors. The majority of the parts on my car haven't been paid for at full price. Even Vivid Racing cut me a deal for a banner on my website 2 years ago. But I've got quite a few [monster garage]freebies[/monster garage] in exchange for exposure/help. Ranging from performance oil from Trace Concepts, to a blow off valve and front bumper from MPJ Performance.
Even the pizza from the last drive I organized had 100% sponsorship. Actually, 200%. I've got enough money let over that the sponsors (MPJ Performance and SubyDude.com) want me to host another event.
Oh well, I guess I learn something new every day...
(The next drive will likely be in January and feature the East Bay hills and BBQ).

I believe that Roy may have misrepresented what sponsorships can be from us and I think i chewed him out pretty good for it. I am sorry Roy. I just had a feeling this would happen.
The protege guys do get a great deal from us and one I would definitely consider to be standard sponsor prices without and strings attached.
The items or things you've been sponsored on Dave frankly don't compare to what we were offerring you. I would hope that Roy's statement hasn't downplayed the extent of what a sponsorship can be. And real sponsorships aren't easy. They often require a lot of work and dedication. Many times the product isn't worth the time and obligations involved. It just depends if one is doing it simply for free parts or for recognition. There are many advantages other than monitary in the beginning to have an official "big" sponsor.
Unfortunately many/most of the products we would offer partial or full sponsorships on are way out of the average protege's budget. There are a few individuals like Jliao who are following a "template" and image that we desire. It's for that reason he has official sponsorship as well as support in helping market himself, vehicle, and product.
I would compare apples to apples. The products we would offer sponsorships on for specific desired applications would be Endless, JIC, Bride, 5Zigen Pro Racer, Junction Produce, Silk Road, Wald, Work, Volk, Gram lights, SSR, HKS Kansai, Ikeya Formula, etc.... What would it take from an individual to acquire full sponsorship from these guys?? These are the companies we would be acting as a representative for. I'm not talking about pizzas.
As a manufacturer or distributor we must weigh our options as well. It's the individual that will determine the degree of sponsorship. Like I said, if you want $2500.00 worth of coilovers for free you must propose how this will benefit the sponsor. This can be done in the form of a proposal. Without something written it would be difficult to make this big of a decision.
After 4 years we will finally be putting up a retail website which will detail what is required of a sponsorship from us as well as the vehicles and image/personality we are also looking for.
I hope for us to have the Grand Opening rager party around the weekend of Dec. 20. We are open now if oyu want to stop by, but still setting up and organizing things.
We will offer 100% sponsorship on all non alcoholic beverages provided for the gathering as well as pizza. On behalf of Auto R & D. Well i hope i've resolved any confusions.
I still miss our old thread a lot. Any of the protege guys who may have felt unappreciated please don't. If you have a plan to attend different venues, races, etc... please contact me.
If you want coilovers, mintblue, volks, works, anything else like that and plan to do some marketting you are a very likely candidate. Having a website like oddys3y will also greatly improve your chances. Good layout, projections and so forth. Calendar of events to attend.
