i have 08.5 gt cwp and while i was at driving real slow in the parking lot to find aparking space their was a humming noise coming from the front portion of the car. The noise sounded like cold wet brakes when first applied in the morning a disappear when they warm up. When i speed up it goes away and when at idle it also makes the noise. I then turned off the car and it went away however when i went onto the freeway and came upon stop and go traffic it became apparent for a minute then went away. Anybody have this problem??? Car runs fine though just wondering what this noise is???

please elborate just got this beautiful car and now this issue! errr

Quite a few people have had the same issue. It's the brake pad dragging on the caliper (from what I've seen). It should only do it a few times and quit. If it keeps doing it, have the dealer check it out. In either case it's nothing to be alarmed about.

only has 152 miles is this common problems with ms3. Is there a recall or do i just have to let it pass!

Dude chill out. 3 different people just told you to let the pads break in. Just drive the car. It will be fine.

mine does the same. Just bought it monday, it definitely is the brakes. For me it stopped after the first three days, at least for now. shouldn't be anything to worry about.

My brakes have been making a weird noise for almost 2 weeks. Since it didn't go away I took it to the dealership. They've had it all day and will probably have it tomorrow too.

When I got mine, it made a humming noise when I turned...talk to the dealer and they said I needed to give time for the tires to break-in (wear the sides); they were square.

Noise went away shortly after driving a few 100 miles...

Same here...the noise happend to me for the first couple thousand miles. No biggie and it goes away.

Don't sweat it and just enjoy your new car :)

Got 17K miles on mine and it def. goes away after the first few 1000... if it bothers you take it to an autocross or track day... it WILL go away (tires and brakes will "bed") - if it doesnt and the wheels come off well then you will have a nice track day story to tell :D

In all seriousness like all others have said: give it the break in period for it to go away specially if its very intermittent

The dealership took the calipers off and relubed everything. They said since the car was built in Sept 07 and on the lot since Oct 07 that the Florida weather was at fault. Noise is gone.
