How To Use Seafoam To Clean Your Engine

Seafoam is simply amazing in my book. I've used it 3 ways in my car and yes, I have put some in my lawn equipment just to see if it ran better. It did!

lol. nice.

Im gonna give this a try tomorrow, not that I think my engine is dirty or anything but it cant hurt right? I was thinking putting alittle in through the brake booster and then the rest in the gas.

yea thats al i've ever done. i just changed my oil like less than 100 miles ago so i am thinkin about puttin it through the brake booster and gas this weekend b/c i forgot to do it b4 i changed my oil. then b4 i change my oil next time i'll stick some in the crankcase.

anyone else changed the oil immediately after changing out the seafoamed oil b/c the new oil that was put it immediately turned black? i guess from everything the seafoam got off?

Well thats what that sam1 said he did, I dont think im up to that though. I keep my oil changed too often as it is. I acually just did the seafom treatment through the brake booster and the rest in the fuel. To be honest thats the first time ive ever had a CEL, its in the garage resetting right now:) I have some pics tho, I wanted my bro to record me trying to start the car up, and it backfired a bit, and after 3 tries it started, but he only seemed to want to get a pic of the stuff comming out of the tail pipe so thats what I got lol. He jacked what left over seafoam I had and tried to put it into his turbo disel truck, thing was, what he thought was a brake booser was a brake fluid line lol, he wasnt happy. Ive typed long enough now that my pics are uploaded, enjoy:)

Also, theres a lot of great info in this thread so it has been moved to engine and performance general and been stickied:)

I dont really have any need for this? I dont think most people will either... I mean I dunno maybe an older car but I think this falls into the "if it isnt broke dont fix it" category

I mean I didnt think my car needed it anyways but it couldnt help as part of a 65k tune up? Its not like its gonna hurt anything, and for under $7? I wont complain. It does really help on older cars though, we had an old truck that wouldnt even stay at idle before we seafoamed it.

Yeah, the stories you hear about Seafoam are pretty cool. If you have an older car I really think it's worthwhile to run a bit through the crankcase, and into the brake booster.

Its definatley worth trying on a older car that isnt running right, but it cant hurt to help clean out any carbon deposits either. Not to mention its so cool to see your car "smoke" like hell for a few mins and knowing its doing good and not bad.

Jeg you just want to be able to call yoru car the silver smoke bomb! lol

I'm doing this along with many other things to my car on Saturday.. 1/3 of the bottle in the brake booster line, and the rest in the gas tank sound right?

it'd probaly do more good in your oil if your car has alot of miles on it.. in any case.. it's only $6 a can.. might as well get another bottle and do all of it (gas and oil)

Only thing is I'm not going to be able to change my oil until I go home next week. So I was going to do the oil then

I've been using it for the over the last 24,000 miles primarily in thru the PCV hose. A few tanks ago I added 1/2 can to the gas for the first time. It really seemed to work better than any other FI cleaner that I have used before. The inside of my exhaust tip does not get nearly as black as it used to. But you will get a nice mixture of residue when you use this stuff through a vacuum source. Just wipe it out after you gone for your smoke out ride.

no need to change oil if i am just running it in the brake booster and gas correct? i am gonna do it today. :)

For those of you with the MSP, I noticed that we aren't supposed to do this through the Brakebooster line. How have you done this process, and any other tips suggestions? I would like to do this this tomorrow as part of a 35K oil change, spark plug/wires change and general post winter system clean out...
