How to turn car off while staying in accessories mode?

Does anyone know if it's possible to turn the car off and have it immediately go into accessories mode, so that the radio stays on? It's really annoying every time I am waiting in a parking lot for someone to run into the store and if I don't want to keep the car running the whole time and turn it off, I have to then turn accessories mode on manually to get the radio to come back on/roll windows up, etc. My boyfriend says there's no way that isn't an option, he just can't figure it out and thumbing through the owner's manual didn't help.

Its been talked about, if you do a search,
but here's how; put in neutral, set parking brake, turn off engine, put in park.

I have automatic transmission and keyless go. When parked I put transmission to N-neutral and push the Start/Stop button. This leaves the accessories mode on. Then I put the transmission to P-park.

OMG. Thank you both. This has been one of the most frustrating things to me with my CX-5!

So, to confirm: pull into space, shift into neutral and press the start/stop button, turning off the engine but leaving accessories on. THEN, while accessories is on, shift to park? And accessories stays on until you press the button again to start the car (with foot on brake)? I didn't realize that shifting while the engine is off is something you can do without damage to the car. Does the brief split-second when the transmission is in reverse, between neutral and park, not do any damage?

You don't have to press the petal to start the car, I believe. If you just press it twice it will turn off.

My engine won't start without depressing the brake before pressing the button - doing so puts it into accessories mode. Is this not the case? Obviously you don't have to press the brake when turning the engine off, though.

This is the correct way. And no, no damage will occur by doing this - cars are made for this situation, ie; when the battery is dead and you need to push it., you would put it in neutral to do so.

Don't leave out the parking brake! When you turn off the engine in neutral, you lose power brakes, and if you are on a steep incline, the car will start to roll downhill. The brakes will still work, but require very hard pressure to stop. No, moving shifter while engine is off won't hurt anything.

You don't even have to shift to neutral to go directly into accessory, keeping it in drive (or anything other than park), I believe, will also work... And yes, the car will only start with the brake depressed (probably for security reasons).
