If you have problem with objects moving side to side, you can lay down a foam or thick blanket or similar material on the surface for additional friction.

In long trips and the 3rd seats pulled up, the cargo net helps keep the
bags from falling off when I open the hatch. Other than this, I don't use the
cargo net.

Try looking for a cargo mat. I know they make them for the protege5, 6. So I would assume they make something like that for the 5.

I could not help myself... I have to answer this one... (headbang)

I bough the Mazda cargo net, and it has a great stretch ability...

I went to Costco and bought 4 cases of #3 Huggies (228 diapers per box). Put the net on top of it and fitted 1 box of wipes at the end. It might be able to stretch some more, but I think it was enough.

Yes. This drove me crazy when we first got the 5. Looked into different ideas. Got the cargo liner from walmart for like 17$. It's grey. I keep it rolled up when the back seats are up, but when I put them down (to put stuff back there), I roll it out and place my items on it. No more slipping(dance) . Even if I try to make things slide, they won't . hth

I got a $18 Koolatron Trimmable cargo mat...not sure if that's the one you got?

They are made for VW, but they may fit. I'll have to measure the cargo area when I get home. For $4.95 you can't beat the price and they look pretty high quality.

It look great and bigger then the neat selling at mazda. Did you find it fit? Too bad i am in Canada and it cost $25. If only cost $5, I will take a chance to buy it.

Let me know if it fits with your measurment....if so...I might buy it too...lolz

I use the cargo net from my Saturn along with 4 clips(like the rock climbing kind, not sure what else to call them) that I clip onto the hooks on the seats, it works really well.

I'm not certain what it's called, but yes, it was trimmable (I didn;t trim it as it fits almost perfectly anyway, and we keep it rolled when not in use). It doesn;t work for you?

This was the perfect solution for us. It has a wire frame and folds flat. When collapsed, it tucks perfectly into the crease behind the 3rd row seats. Large enough to hold 6 or so bags of groceries. There are 3 different sizes at our Wally World, this one being the largest. Could probably fit 3 of these across with both 3rd row seats down. Definitely check it out next time your there. In the area with laundry baskets and closet storage.

I used the one we had for our old car, and what do you know? It fits like a glove. I had to be creative by adding hooks to the four corners. I just cut the hooks out from old bungy cords. Everything stays put in the back with 3rd row seats down.

Haha^

If you go decide to go this rout, don't go cheap with cardboard boxes, go collapsible plastic boxes.

I will even hold a bbq propane tank upright and keep it from falling over which is handy.

It took a while, but I finally realised that with the third row folded down, you can fold up and store the cargo floor in an upright position.
That leaves an area that's just about perfect for keeping grocery bags from sliding back and forth when the tailgate is down.
