How to reattach gas cap on 2014 Mazda 3?

The gas cap on my 2014 Mazda 3 Grand Touring 4-door has become untethered, and I don't see how to reattach it. Help!

Now the question is: Can you get just that component? I hope so.

I think I have a few extra of those black plastic push pins/clips that hold the trunk lining against the frame. I'm going to see if one of those works to clip the tether to the gas door.
