How to increase your MPG buy almost 2

Stop using discount gas. I stopped getting gas at Wa Wa and Sheetz and noticed my MPGs are up by almost 2 full miles per gallon. Same type of driving, same roads, same weather. I've gone from a bit over 25 on average to just over 27mpg. I am getting an extra 20-25 miles per tank by not getting gas at the above stations. I've been running Shell gas. I'll continue to run it. I think it's 3 cents more per gallon on average but I more than make it up in mileage.

I am on my 4th tank of Shell. I never really thought much about it before. I live 2 miles from a sheetz and work a mile from a Wa Wa. Both of those stations were convenient.

sounds worth it to me if you're getting less mpg what else was it doing in your nice disi engine???

I just got 36 MPG this weekend, but I was making a conscious effort to do it. My wife used the car after that. It's down to 32 now according to the trip computer (yes I know it's prolly off 2 mpg, but it's f'n addictive)

i've been using BP without issue.. (getting around 26 or 27 MPG consistently) .. was closer to 30MPG before the modding began. There is also a new sunoco around my way that i might check out.

I just use Valero. This engine runs so pig rich that I'm not really concerned about higher quality gas. Everything up here has 10% ethanol in it now anyway. Shell, Texaco and Sunoco are the only three that are around here on that list, and they're far too few and between to make it worth the extra cost of A. Finding the place and B. Paying more for it, even if it saves 2 MPG.

I used to use shell, but to be honest I always found that it acutaly bogged me down noticably whenever I used it compared to.. this exxon station in front of my neighborhood for instance. I swore up and down the first couple tank-fulls that it was just a placebo affect going on, but then my brother and two friends noticed it too without me telling them about it.

i know a guy in the gas delivery buisness he says shell gets cheveron gas and cheveron gets shell gas as well as texaco is in the mix. i also noticed my gas mileage reader is optomistic it sais i get around 23 to 24 but really get by measuring after fill up how many mile since last fillup and dividing by gallons i get 19 to 21.

Is that with spirited driving? Or driving Miss Daisy or what? You will never get a fixed number unless you drive the same through the whole gas tank.

so if your feeding your ride chevron with techron you may be feeding it with shell with ?????? and you wouldnt even know it

if you read my thread above yours i was just saying a guy told me who is in the gas delivery buisness that the actual fuel going to shell cheveron and texico gets all mixed around, so if you think your using cheveron you maybe using shell, on your question the only way to acuraterly measure your gas milage is to fill up drive then fill up agian see how many gallons you filled up with and then divide the number of miles by the number gallons then you have an accurate mathmeticly measured mpg
