How-To: Folding rear seats in MS6

They are there to stiffen the chassis of the car. When you hear mazda say that "The Mazdaspeed 6 is 50% stiffer than the regular 6" they are pretty much talking about those two black braces.
Can you take them out?......yes

If you do decide to take them out the car will not handle nearly as well and if you were to drive very agressively with the seats folded down you could even twist the car a little.(Very small chance of this)
I would say that if you just HAD to take them out for a weekend trip you could. I would just drive like a grandma the whole weekend and put them back on the night I got home.

All of my parts arrived today, I may attempt to start this tonight or tomorrow night if I can get the garage warmed up enough...an updated how-to with a bit more detail will be coming along with it, stay tuned.

Can someone post pics of where these latches are or at least tell me? I do not see them after removing the liner behind the seats. Maybe Im blind.

I found my write-up the other night, I will post it here shortly. I got a new comp and a few other things came up, so it got put on the back burner. Sorry for the delays.
I could use some updated pics for this. I just pulled the trunk liner and was poking around, but I can't seem to figure out how to release the seat latches.
I suppose I'll just stuff myself in there for a better look, but thought I'd hunt this thread down first.

You'll need to look on the bar that the rear deck rests on. There are two posts that stick down. By pushing those to the center of the car, it will release each side to drop down. I suggest pushing the seat lightly as you're trying to release the lever, and you may have to crawl in the trunk and face upward to clearly see them.

I see someone posted a collection of pics pertaining to this mod in photbucket...
but nothing to really tell us what each pic is looking at...
The how-to one laid out step my step, just curious if they are the same pics.

This mod is really simple. I didn't get into too much detail with those pics because I simply ordered the parts from the list and did it by climbing in and figuring out where things go. Once you tear the trunk apart, everything is very easy to find and won't take you long. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
