How to disable ABS?

MY Protege's ABS system has been totally acting up lately. After I start the car and when I go to perform a normal stop, it engages all four wheels before suddenly cutting off. A minute or two later the ABS and the brake warning light come on.

I know something has to be up with one of the sensors. In the meantime, I just want normal brakes. How the F do I disable the ABS system and retain normal braking?

Can you just unplug the ABS fuse. That should let the normal brakes work fine until you can get it fixed.

no dice. the abs is integrated in a way that you can't just unhook it. there is a portion of the ecu that is mapped for the ABS. the booster is also integrated into the ABS.

you could either swap out the ecu and booster, or you could just find out where the problem is.

if you just want to disable it temporarily then just pull the ABS fuse in the engine compartment. Well you could disable it permanently that way too, although you will have to live with the BRAKE and ABS dummy lights being on constantly
