well, not so much a "how-to" as a "how to?"

due to circumstances FAR beyond my control, it looks like it'll be at least friday and maybe sat. until i get my new M 3 on the road, gives me a lil bit more time to ax dis kewshun

best ideas/practices anyone?

getting a new 06 3 5door 2.3/at :D

oh and:
**** enterprise and **** westway towing (in ft lauderdale), then **** comcast while we're at it

most people also change the oil within 500 miles again at 1000 miles, 2500 miles, and then again at 5000 and then switch it over to synthetic... don't go over 5000rpm for the first 1000miles and don't keep it at the same speed (no cruise control) basicaly vary the speed and don't drive it like you stole it for the first 1000 miles... and for the oil thing some swear by it others say its a crock so....

you don't wanna know
i can write a book on the subject

.....

http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm says:
"There's a very small window of opportunity to get the rings to seal really well ... the first 20 miles !!"

however they call it for bikes, not cars, and most of the info is for bikes there

well, the car i'm looking at already has 35 miles on it, the dealer had to get it from another dealer and they drove it down here
so basically it's too late?

Although the examples shown here are motorcycle engines,
these principles apply to all 4 stroke engines

that's a quote taken directly from that article. my car was redlined a few times way before 1k miles because my friend was driving when there was a fire call. basically just take it easy, vary the revs, and don't floor it for the first 1k or so and you will be fine.
