How to break my car in correctly?

No, he said the first oil change should be @ 1k miles because of the new engine, and then 3k miles after that, but to use normal oil until 10k miles where as I thought I was going to use the 5W-20 Sythentic @ that first oil change.

We just ordered our SP23 and the dealer said it would have less than 5 miles on it when we get it. He said nothing about specific break in stuff and said to change the oil at 1000 miles, He also said to not use synthetic oil until 10,000 miles on the car. I was going to put synthetic in it right off the bat. Anyone have any opinion on the Oil and when I should change it for the first time and if I can use synthetic right away? (help)

DO NOT use synthetic oil during an engine's break-in. The reason for this is ring and seal expansion. Syn oil reduces friction better then conventional oil, thus reducing internal temps. Normally, this is a good thing. However, when breaking in an engine, you'll need a little more heat to get the piston rings to seat properly. This will keep your compression at the proper level in the long run. Oh and congrats on the purchase.

Thanks for the info, obviously this is our first brand new car and I don't know how these things work. But it's fun to worry about!
