How the hell does the spoiler come off!!!

Ok Ive taken all 5 bolts off from underneath the trunk. Ive unplugged the 3rd brake light. But when I go to try and lift it off the trunk lid, the damn thing wont budge. The center comes up, but either of the side posts WILL NOT MOVE. I even went to the extent of taking a rubber mallet and hitting the bottom of the bolt under the trunk to try and pop the spoiler up...but no such luck. I need your HELP guys... (cheers)
 
i would just try the rubber mallet on both sides a little bit at a time most likely its stuck due to buildup of dirt and crap
 
your trying to take the spoiler off ? If so, its a PITA. I did mine and it took me a good 2 hrs and 2 bottles of goo gone. There is 3m double sided mould tape under there also and it holds like a newborn on a teet.

Be careful, cause its easy to torque the lid outta shape.
 
.... I just had a question about MSP spoilers, since where on the subject....

1) are all the MSP spoilers the same? 2003 to 2003.5
2) are the trunks the same as well?

I'm thinking about getting a orange 2003 MSP but like the 2003.5 spoiler more. But wouldn't mind having BOTH if it wasn't too expense to have both.

the trunk lids are the same but the orange/black (2003) mazdaspeeds do have a different wing than the blue/yellow/silver/titanium (2003.5) mazdaspeeds. there was someone who had a 2003.5 wing on an orange msp but i cant remember who it was. switching wings isn't so easy though as it will leave holes on your trunk that will look tacky. if you want the 03.5 styl wing i would find someone to trade (i know some 03.5's who want the 03 wing) and trade whole trunk/wing combo and just get it painted. but thats just my $.02
 
get a crow bar and a hammer...pull on the spoiler, get a little crack going and jam the crow bar in and hammer it down good..then it's self explanatory :)

very well. Yes i would agree myself about just having complete trunk & mounted wing. How much should I expect to pay for the trunk & wing?
 
Wouold it be possible to swap with an MP3? I like the MP3 wing and I think the blue is the same.
 
yes they are the same., just make sure the mp3's paint isn't a lil faded. i used to own both and my mp3 was a tad more faded than the msp (hardly noticable though)
 
other then the 3 screws per side,there is a large plastic clip on each one.

I used a razor blade to get through the double stick tape,ten you need to "pop" the clip.

it is best to squeeze the tabs for it inside with some needle nose pliers.
