Protege5
I got my new Protege5 today morning.
It's a really nice car. I like it!
However I have a question regarding engine oil change.
They put a sticker on the left top coner of inside windshield, saying "Next Engine Oil Change - 03/18/04 or 5000 miles."
According to my understanding, engine oil change is supposed to be done once every 3000 miles.
How often do you change engine oil?
Is it OK to do once every 5000 miles?

And when should I have the first engine oil change? Sooner than regular oil change?

welcome to the boards. are you in Louisville, KY?
do your first change between 2 and 3k just because it is a new engine and it has to "break in".
as for the rest of them it really depends on your driving. if you drive hard a lot i would change it more often than if you drive easy all the time

it usually depends. 3000 is when I change mine but anywhere from 3000-5000 is good depending on driving habits. Most companies say 5000 or some 7000 but thats cause they use synthetic. I beleive the U.S. is one of the only modern country that uses non-synthetic. Europe uses synthetic on like all there cars and I beleive Asia too.
