How much would you say my MSP is worth?

Well take some nice photo's, give some information about the car and put a price on her. Then post a new thread up or get a moderator to send this thread to the "vehicles for sell" board. Be sure to read the rules to go about selling something on the forums.

how much will my msp be worth down the road?

so i've been thinkin about what to do with the whole car thing.. i love my msp but i want a rear wheel drive car that i can work on a little more and get some experience with. so i was thinking about a rx7 or a 240sx or a 300zx or something.. so i have a couple of options..

one being i could sell or trade my msp for one of those cars while the car still has less than 150000 miles.

or i could save up money and wait a long time till i have money to buy the new car and keep my msp in a garage for a looooooong time. the only reason i would do this would be because my msp is so rare.

so here's the question... is my msp going to be worth a lot of money say 20 or 30 years down the road? because if it is there's no way i'm going to get rid of this car. let me know what you all think!!

you don't think it'll be one of those collector cars because of how rare it is? lol i mean s*** there's only 500 other sunlight silver cars out there minus the ones that have been wrecked or parted out

One day sure, when? No one can tell what will be worth alot, or what is worth nothing at all. Cars are a beotch for pricing.

Some rare cars never catch on, I would say our cars are at the low point in their value, prices will continue to drop but I can't see them getting much cheaper. I have seen several running MSPs go for around 4500. One day they will be worth something, but mine may be long gone by then.

okay.. well if their price is gonna keep dropping like they are now i might try to do a little something with it now and get a new car while i can still get some money out of it

Yeah everyone is right, selling it not will not net you anything. We know this is not a mid 90s supra. But the car was only made in one year model. This puts it more rare than a Grand National(84-87) and typhoon/syclone(91-93). Grand Nationals in descent shape are going for around 10k. You get my drift. But I wouldn't keep the car because it may be worth some money one day, as much as I would keep it to be different and have something I like to drive. 240sx fall out of trees when the wind blows, but to each his own

i just want a rear wheel drive car that's a little faster than my msp but i don't want to get one if i'm gonna regret it one day

It's really not worth it to sell right now.

there never has been a good time to sell a msp. they have no demand and even when they were new mazda had to use every trick in the book (0% for 5 years, no pay for first 6 months etc.) just to get them off the lots. Its not like the car had a waiting list.

there will never be an appreciation for the car from the general public. On paper the reliability is sub par and they depreciate pretty quickly.

In the end its a underpowered (now 8 years old) economy vehicle with bright paint and stiff ride. Whats a great stock 323 GTX from 1988 go for? not very much even in immaculate condition. Just to keep the car in perfect or near perfect condition and doing the scheduled maintenance pretty much negates any money you might be getting back, and the more you drive it the less it is worth so.

Whats my 8 year old MSP worth now? not much at all. What will it be worth in 5,8,10 years? pretty much nothing. think 2-3gs in great shape.

If you bought this car to keep as a collector or make money on ive got bad new for ya lol

If you bought the car because it makes you happy and you enjoy driving it then MSP is FTW. we all love em but you sure as heck aint getting your money back, at least most of it anyways ;)

kelly blue book trade in value for a mazdaspeed protege with 130,000 miles in good condition is $3,500. i bought it for 9,500 three years ago. it has depreciated 2000 dollars a year. thats 166 dollars a month. i put on about 1100 miles a month. thats 15 cents a mile. that means every mile i drive my msp i lose 15 cents in it's value.

i get say 30 miles per gallon. gas has prolly averaged 3.25 a gallon over the past three years(being generous). so that means i've averaged about 120 dollars in gas a month. plus 125 dollars in insurance a month. plus maintenance (there's waaay too much to think of to add it all up) so lets say an average 75 a month on maintenance (some months are more some months have nothing). so i paid the initial 9500 (had a loan so plus interest) plus the 120 for gas, 125 on insurance, 75 on maintenance. so that adds up to 320 a month (rough estimate).

so all in all i have lost (money AND value) about 486 a month. (166 in depreciation of the value of my msp a month and 320in gas, insurance, and maintenance).

just a thought to let everyone ponder on lol. (do i have to much time on my hands? probably)
